Carbon DJI Avinox 800Wh all-mountain eMTB

The Megamo Reason 2025 is the Catalan brand's headline eMTB, an all-mountain carbon Horst-Link chassis built around the DJI Avinox M1 motor. Headline numbers: 160 mm of travel front and rear, Avinox M1 at 105 Nm and 1000 W peak, 800 Wh Avinox FP800 battery (non-removable on the Reason), a 63.5 degree head angle, reach 442 to 500 mm across three sizes, 22.8 kg claimed and £11,499 for the CRB 01 flagship. The community verdict, summed up by @Rob Rides EMTB, is that this is "a rocket on my first ride", one of the first non-Amflow DJI Avinox bikes to market, and a credible all-mountain alternative for riders who want the latest Chinese motor in a more refined frame package than the Amflow PL.
Drive system and range. The DJI Avinox M1 at 105 Nm rated, 1000 W peak and 2.52 kg is the same drive as fitted to the Amflow PL. Real-world range on the 800 Wh FP800 pack in this 22.8 kg chassis comfortably matches the Amflow at 25 to 40 miles with serious climbing in Turbo. The Avinox 2-inch OLED top-tube display and Avinox app give granular custom power tuning. Critically, the Reason battery is non-removable: @COOLBIKE confirms battery removal "requires removing the motor", a deliberate design call that purists hate but mainstream owners shrug at. @biasbilt reports that Avinox thumb switches have shown water-ingress issues across both Amflow and Megamo Reason owners.
Geometry and handling. The 63.5 degree head angle is exactly right for the 160/160 mm all-mountain brief. Reach progresses 442, 470 and 500 mm across S to L with size-specific chainstays (450/454/458 mm) and wheelbase scaling 1233 to 1317 mm. @Rob Rides EMTB notes the size L "runs more like XL on the geo", so size carefully. @garethld typically a Large took a Medium "based on the long reach geo and then changing stem to 50mm and bars to 55mm rise". The 4-bar Horst-Link rear is super slim and the platform takes a 170 mm fork upgrade comfortably for light enduro use.
Build and value. Wide trim ladder from £4,999 alloy to £11,499 CRB 01 flagship carbon. CRB 01 features Fox 36 Factory GRIP2 160 mm fork, Fox Float X Factory 185x55 shock, Shimano XT BR-M8220 4-piston brakes with 203 mm rotors, and SRAM XX/Eagle 90 Transmission (varies). Standout is the entry-level alloy at £4,999, which puts the DJI Avinox M1 + 800 Wh pack within reach of mid-budget buyers. Questionable: the stock 35 mm stem is "too twitchy" per @Rob Rides EMTB, the 20 mm bar rise is short for larger sizes, and the stock EXO casing tyres are "too light" and need an upgrade for serious off-road use.
Community-verified strengths. First, the suspension package is rated as "all-use" capable: @Toomanybikesnotenoughlegs says the 160 mm travel handles "single track/forest roads to Lake District and bike parks without feeling under-suspended". Second, the chassis design is praised as "super slim" with clean horst-link engineering. Third, the Avinox M1 motor and 800 Wh battery combination delivers true full-power performance at sub-23 kg.
Caveats and known gripes. The non-removable battery is a deal-breaker for some: @COOLBIKE and @RustyMTB both flag it, along with internally routed headset cables on the alloy versions. Stock spec niggles include the twitchy 35 mm stem, short 20 mm rise bars and lightweight EXO tyres per @Rob Rides EMTB. Avinox thumb-switch water ingress reported by @biasbilt across the DJI ecosystem. Dealer network outside Spain and a handful of UK/EU outlets is thin, although @deertrackdoctor reports three Megamo dealers within 90 minutes of his house in Scotland, including Pedals in Dunfermline.
Verdict. The Reason is in current production and is one of the most credible non-Amflow DJI Avinox bikes on the market. Buy it if you want the Avinox M1 motor and 800 Wh pack in a clean 160/160 mm carbon chassis with proper size-specific chainstays and you can live with the non-removable battery. Look elsewhere if removable batteries are a hard requirement (in which case look at the Crestline RS 181 Spectre or Amflow PL Carbon), or if you want a Bosch Flow App / DJI proprietary ecosystem with the deepest dealer network. The 2027 update to the Avinox M2S motor on the alloy AL05 noted by @empty is worth waiting for if M2S 1500 W/150 Nm peak figures matter to you.
