A solid all-round descender (65.3° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Alloy all-mountain bike with dependable Shimano power for varied trails

The Megamo Crave AL 2022 is the aluminium-framed version of the Spanish brand's full-suspension trail and all-mountain eMTB, with the carbon Crave CRB as its sibling. The chassis uses a Horst Link 4-bar layout, a triple-butted alloy frame with a fully integrated battery and 29in wheels running roomy 2.6in Maxxis Minion rubber. Megamo quotes 150 mm of rear travel matched to a 160 mm fork on most trims. Geometry is shared across the whole range, with a 65.3-degree head angle, a 75-degree effective seat angle, 465 mm chainstays and reach growing from 431 mm on the S to 474 mm on the L.
Every 2022 build carries an integrated 630 Wh battery, but the motor changes as you move down the line. The Gravity, AL 03 and AL 05 use the Shimano EP8 (85 Nm), the AL 10 runs the newer Shimano EP801 (85 Nm), and the entry AL 40 steps down to the Shimano EP6 mid-power unit. The Gravity tops the range at 7,599 euros with a Fox 38 Factory fork, a coil Fox Float DHX2 shock, Shimano XT gearing and DT Swiss wheels. The AL 03 (6,499 euros) keeps the Fox 38 but swaps to an air Fox DPX2 shock, the AL 05 (5,399 euros) drops to a 150 mm Fox 34 Rhythm and Shimano Deore, the AL 10 (4,289 euros) moves to a RockShox 35 Silver fork and SRAM SX Eagle, and the AL 40 EP6 (4,449 euros) pairs a 130 mm Suntour XCR 34 fork with a 10-speed Shimano Deore drivetrain.
Megamo has limited UK retail presence, so pricing here is quoted in euros from the manufacturer's own 2022 catalogue rather than a British RRP. This is a discontinued 2022 model; later Crave AL generations moved to a larger 762 Wh battery and standardised on the Shimano EP801 motor. No independent owner ride or reliability data is included here.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.75) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 75° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.
Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.
