EMTB Forums verdict

The MMR X-Bolt 140 2025 is the longer-travel trail variant of Spanish brand MMR's X-Bolt carbon eMTB platform, sitting above the X-Bolt 120 in the lineup. Built around the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor (120 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 750 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.8 kg) and a 750 Wh battery. Travel is 150 mm front and 140 mm rear on a carbon chassis with a 66.5 degree head angle, 457 mm chainstays flat, and reach progressing 425 mm (S), 450 mm (M), and 475 mm (L). Single base trim cataloguing. The community read in one line: a relatively unknown Spanish carbon trail eMTB with the best motor in the business and sensible mid-travel intent, hampered by limited international presence and traditional trail geometry.

Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 5 is the gold standard for eMTB drives — 120 Nm of torque, smooth and quiet, free OTA firmware updates via the eBike Flow app, and the deepest dealer network in Europe and North America. The 750 Wh battery is the larger Bosch PowerTube and is removable for off-bike charging. Real-world range in mixed trail terrain on eMTB/Tour mode will sit in the 45 to 70 km territory, with extreme cases pushing further on Eco. This is properly all-day capability for trail and gentle enduro riding.

Geometry and handling. Traditional trail geometry. 66.5 degree head angle puts the bike firmly in mainstream trail territory (steeper than enduro norms by 1.5 to 2 degrees), suiting lighter, more nimble handling rather than full-attack descending. Reach progresses 425 mm (S), 450 mm (M), 475 mm (L) — sensible mid-range numbers. Chainstays are held at 457 mm flat across all three sizes, which is on the longer side for the category and gives a planted, stable feel rather than poppy agility. Wheelbase from 1191 to 1253 mm. Full 29er expected. Three sizes only — buyers under 165 cm or over 190 cm may need to look at the wider X-Bolt range.

Build and value. Single base trim. At MMR's typical pricing position (mid-market Spanish carbon), expect RockShox or Fox suspension at 150 mm front and 140 mm rear, four-piston brakes with 200 mm rotors, and a Shimano XT or SLX 12-speed drivetrain. The Bosch CX Gen 5 motor and 750 Wh battery are the standout — getting this drive system on a carbon trail chassis under the MMR brand will typically come in below comparable Specialized or Trek pricing.

Caveats and known gripes.

  • Limited international presence. MMR is well-known in Spain and Portugal but has a thin dealer network in the UK, US and northern Europe — warranty and service depend heavily on the local distributor.
  • Three sizes only (S, M, L) is restrictive. Most major brands offer four to seven sizes at this price.
  • Fixed 457 mm chainstays across all sizes means no size-tuning. By 2025 standards, this is increasingly behind the curve at this category.
  • Conservative 66.5 degree head angle is on the steeper side of modern trail geometry — buyers wanting modern slack-and-long platforms will find this dated.
  • No community forum quotes yet for the platform. Long-term reliability data is thin compared to mass-market rivals.

Verdict. The MMR X-Bolt 140 2025 is a thoughtful Spanish carbon trail eMTB for buyers who value the Bosch CX Gen 5 ecosystem in a relatively unknown brand chassis, particularly riders in Spain or Portugal with strong local MMR dealer support. It suits intermediate trail riders who fit the S/M/L size range and don't need the latest long-and-slack geometry. Look elsewhere if you want size-tuned chainstays, more aggressive trail geometry, or stronger international warranty support. Production status: current, single base trim, three sizes.
