Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 is the latest iteration of Bosch's full-power line, delivering 120 Nm of torque and a 750 W manufacturer-claimed peak after the post-PU2.0 firmware update unlocked the eMTB+ mode with around 400% rider support. With the carbon frame, Bosch CX Gen 5 motor and 750 Wh battery, the X-Bolt 120 occupies a niche that few other major brands cover — full Bosch power in a downcountry travel format. Pricing is not listed in the gold facts. The trade-off is that buyers in this segment often prefer lightweight motor systems (Bosch SX, TQ HPR50, DJI Avinox M1) over full-power; the X-Bolt's combination of full-power motor and short-travel chassis is a deliberate niche play.
Verdict. The MMR X-Bolt 120 2025 suits the rider who wants the climbing power of a Bosch CX Gen 5 full-power motor and the range of a 750 Wh battery, but in a short-travel, XC-style chassis with conservative 67 degree geometry — cross-country racing, long-mileage trail tours, and rolling singletrack are the natural home. Less suitable for descending-focused riders, who should look at slacker, longer-travel platforms with the same Bosch CX Gen 5 motor (Bergamont E-Contrail Pro, Trek Powerfly FS).
