A solid all-round descender (65° head angle, 160mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
FAB.4 ELS X2 2025
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The MAXX FAB.4 ELS X2 is the Bavarian brand's alloy E-enduro, built around a 6061-T6 Octatube frame with 160mm of rear travel and a 170mm fork. The geometry is properly modern enduro: a 65 degree head angle, 75 degree effective seat angle and a tight 455mm chainstay held constant across all five sizes, with reach growing from 427mm on the S to 525mm on the XXL.
Power comes from Shimano's EP801 motor with 85Nm of torque and up to 400 percent assistance, fed by a removable down-tube pack that can be specified from 600Wh up to 800Wh, so range can be tuned to the ride. The standard build pairs a RockShox ZEB Select fork with a Fox Float X TR shock, four-piston Shimano Deore brakes on a 203mm front rotor, and a robust Shimano XT Linkglide 11-speed drivetrain on hand-built 29in wheels.
MAXX sells direct from Germany as a made-to-order, configurable bike, so the listed figure is a starting price and there is no UK RRP; the build, finish and battery size are chosen at order. Within the FAB.4 line the ELS X2 sits below the newer carbon FAB.4 ELA, offering the durable aluminium chassis and the proven Shimano drive system at a lower entry point.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.
Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.80) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.
Climbs well — a 75° seat keeps the front planted. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.
Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.
