Macina Chacana 2025

The Macina Chacana is KTM's aluminium SUV trail platform, sitting in the touring camp below the sportier Prowler and Kapoho. With 130mm of fork travel and 125mm out back through KTM's Straight-Line-Link suspension, it is built around the Bosch Performance Line CX (BDU384Y) drive unit rated at 85 Nm and 600 W, paired with a sizeable 800Wh PowerTube on the 891, 892 LFC and 891 LFC Di2 builds. The Power Tube Top Loader mount makes the battery quick to drop in and out.

On value, the 891 at 5,499 euros is the pick for riders who want the long-travel-friendly kit: a Fox 34 Float fork, Fox Float DPS Performance shock, Shimano XT 4-piston brakes and a 1x12 XT drivetrain on full 29in wheels. The LFC variants step down to a Fox Rhythm shock and Shimano Deore/CUES brakes and gearing on 27.5in wheels, but add the light, fender and carrier package for everyday and touring use; the 891 LFC Di2 brings Shimano's wireless CUES Di2 shifting. The 892 LFC swaps the Fox fork for a Suntour XCR34X unit to hit 4,899 euros, while the entry 591 uses a smaller 500Wh Smart System battery, Suntour fork, RockShox Deluxe Select shock and a fixed seatpost at 4,599 euros.

Geometry is moderate and tour-friendly rather than aggressive: a 65.5 degree head angle and 76.5 degree effective seat angle are held across all four 29in sizes, with reach growing from 454mm on the M to 504mm on the XXL and chainstays fixed at 460mm. The 800Wh builds carry a dropper post, while the 591 does not, which matters for committed descending.
