Macina Chacana 2023

The 2023 Macina Chacana is KTM's touring-biased trail eMTB: a 29in aluminium full-susser with 130mm of FOX or RockShox up front and 125mm out back via KTM's Straight-Line-Link suspension. The geometry is deliberately conservative for the category - a 67-degree head angle, 74.5-degree effective seat angle and a long 476mm chainstay across all sizes - so it sits closer to comfortable SUV-tourer than aggressive enduro sled, which matches KTM's own positioning against the racier Kapoho and Prowler.

Power comes from the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 (85Nm), here paired with Bosch's Smart System electronics, a Kiox 300 display and a 750Wh PowerTube on the LFC, 791 and 792, dropping to 500Wh on the 591. The flagship 791 and the fully-equipped LFC (light, mudguards, carrier) share FOX 34 forks and Shimano XT braking at 6,199 euro; the 792 trades to a RockShox 35 Silver fork and lower-tier brakes at 5,599 euro, while the 4,599 euro 591 is the value option on a Suntour XCR fork, Shimano Deore 10-speed and a rigid seatpost rather than a dropper.

It is a sensibly specced, do-everything platform rather than a sharp trail weapon, and the heavy build (24.9 to 28.7kg claimed) reflects its commuter-and-tour remit. Now discontinued, with the Chacana having moved to the newer Bosch CX generation and CUES/Di2 builds in later model years, so a 2023 example is only worth pursuing as a used buy at the right price.
