Yamaha PW-X3 aluminium enduro/freeride eMTB, 720Wh, mullet

The Haibike Nduro 2024 is the German brand's full-power enduro/freeride hammer, an aluminium 4-bar chassis with 180 mm of travel front and rear and Yamaha's potent PW-X3 motor. Headline numbers: 180/180 mm of travel, Yamaha PW-X3 at 85 Nm and 500 W peak (2.75 kg), 720 Wh InTube battery, 26 kg claimed weight, 63.5 degree head angle, reach 425 to 510 mm across four sizes, and £5,599 base price. The community verdict, summed up by @R120, is that the Nduro 8 sits in the small club of "genuine big-travel bruisers" alongside the Whyte E-180 and Scott Ransom eRIDE, and the price-per-travel proposition is hard to beat.
Drive system and range. The Yamaha PW-X3 at 85 Nm and 500 W peak is a refined, mature 2.75 kg unit that one community review highlighted as a key reason "all this bike for £4,498 brand new" was achievable. The 720 Wh InTube battery is removable from the underside of the down tube. Real-world range on 720 Wh and an 85 Nm Yamaha system in a 26 kg chassis sits in the 30 to 40 mile bracket depending on assist mode and elevation. Yamaha lacks the OTA polish of Bosch Flow App or DJI Avinox but is well-established and supported through Haibike's dealer network.
Geometry and handling. The 63.5 degree head angle is exactly right for the 180/180 mm freeride brief. Reach progresses 425, 455, 480 and 510 mm across S to XL with a fixed 460 mm chainstay and wheelbase scaling 1230 to 1320 mm. The fixed-length rear-centre is on the long side, which adds straight-line stability at speed and climbing grip on steep pitches at the cost of a slightly less playful rear-end. The XL at 510 mm reach and 1320 mm wheelbase is a proper park machine for taller riders, and the S at 425 mm makes the platform usable for shorter enduro racers without going to a shrunken-frame setup.
Build and value. Single base trim at £5,599 with 26 kg claimed. The historical Nduro 8 Freeride 720 Wh package at £4,498 (and dipping to £4,199 on sale, per the community archive) included Ohlins DH38 fork as flagged by one reviewer, which is a serious enduro chassis at a value price. Standout is the long travel, big battery and PW-X3 at this price point. Questionable is finishing quality of the lower trims, and Haibike's dealer support after Accell Group's recent restructuring has been patchy in some markets. @ciorbarece7 notes that official torque specs for the Ohlins shock bolts are missing, with measured values of 17 Nm in field use.
Community-verified strengths. First, the Nduro is rated alongside the Whyte E-180 and Scott Ransom eRIDE as one of the genuine big-travel bruisers, per @R120. Second, the price-per-travel value is class-leading: at the Nduro 8 Freeride sale price of £4,498, one community summary headlines "Long travel, 720Wh battery, 85Nm" for that money. Third, the platform takes high-end suspension well, with Ohlins DH38 and dialed-in shocks praised in reviews and used by Haibike at the top of the range.
Caveats and known gripes. The headline issue is Haibike service. @chutz666 reports a Nduro 8 motor warranty claim still unresolved after 9+ weeks at 13 months into the warranty period, exactly the kind of saga that erodes trust in the brand. The 26 kg weight is on the heavier side of the 2024 full-power enduro class, with current-gen DJI Avinox or Bosch CX Gen 5 bikes shaving 3 to 5 kg in similar travel. The Yamaha ecosystem is mature but lacks the OTA firmware refresh cadence of Bosch and DJI. The single trim level at £5,599 and limited dealer footprint outside core European markets adds friction.
Verdict. The Nduro is in current production and is one of the cheapest ways into 180/180 mm full-power enduro with a 720 Wh battery and a Yamaha drivetrain. Buy it if you want a heavy-hitting park/freeride bike at sub-£6k pricing with a slack 63.5 degree front, you have a Haibike-supporting dealer nearby and you are happy with the 26 kg weight. Look elsewhere if you want a sub-23 kg full-power bike, a current-gen Bosch CX Gen 5 or DJI Avinox motor, or you need bulletproof warranty service from the brand. @rider notes that 2023 Nduro 8 Freeride 720Wh examples have been hitting the used market through major dealers, so a second-hand example with low miles like @jamesm1980's £2,750 sale (8 uses, Large frame, DMR pedals and PPF frame protection) can be a genuine bargain for the right rider.
