Mullet trail eMTB, Bosch Performance Line CX, 800Wh

The Ghost E-Riot 2025 is the German brand's carbon mullet enduro: 170 mm fork paired with 160 mm rear travel, the new Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor at 120 Nm and a 750 W peak, and a removable Bosch PowerTube 800 Wh battery. At a claimed 22.8 kg and £5,499 for the Trail CF entry trim, this is one of the better-priced full-power Bosch CX Gen 5 carbon enduros on sale. Twelve size points across SM through XL give a class-leading fit spread, and a 64.0 degree head angle plants it firmly in modern long-travel territory.
Drive system and range. Bosch CX Gen 5 is the headline — 120 Nm of torque, 750 W peak — with the 800 Wh PowerTube battery removable for charging convenience. There is one notable wrinkle. @heilmaenner, an E-Riot CF 2025 Full Party owner with CX5 and 800 Wh, was told by Ghost that to access the full 100 Nm performance update he needs his local Bosch-partner shop to connect the bike via Bosch's OEM software. The 750 W base is already available via the eBike Flow app, but Ghost did not enable the OTA path for the torque upgrade at launch. Real-world range on Bosch CX Gen 5 with 800 Wh consistently lands at 1,500–2,000 m of climbing per charge in mixed riding.
Geometry and handling. A 64.0 degree head angle is the modern enduro sweet spot. Reach is generous and well progressed: 435 mm (S/SM), 465 mm (M/MD), 490 mm (L/LG) and 527 mm at XL on some variants. Chainstays grow modestly from 445 mm to 455 mm, and wheelbase progresses from 1,216 mm to 1,346 mm. Twelve size points (with multiple SM/MD/LG/XL options) suggest Ghost is offering reach-tweaks within sizes — unusual and useful for riders between standard sizes. Tractionlink 2.0 is Ghost's four-bar suspension layout. The mullet 29/27.5 wheel format is standard.
Build and value. Three named trims: £5,499 Trail CF (the value entry), £5,999 Advanced with RockShox Domain Gold RC fork and SRAM DB8 brakes, and £6,499 LTD with RockShox ZEB Ultimate fork, Vivid Ultimate shock, SRAM Maven Ultimate brakes (220/220 mm rotors) and SRAM GX Eagle AXS Transmission. The LTD at £6,499 is the standout value — full Ultimate-level suspension and AXS wireless drivetrain on a Bosch CX Gen 5 carbon chassis is rare at this price.
Community-verified strengths. Bosch CX Gen 5 is the proven, refined, well-supported drive system with the most mature OTA firmware ecosystem on the market. @Bike Bot reports the 100 Nm performance update went on cleanly via the Flow app on a Trek RAIL+ Gen 5 in around 10 minutes, with first-test-ride impressions of meaningfully more punch in EMTB+ mode. @cobra22 notes the 750 W is "plenty" for most riders even before the torque update. Twelve sizes and the LTD price/spec are class-competitive.
Caveats and known gripes. The 100 Nm torque upgrade requires a dealer visit, not a Flow-app push — a meaningful friction point versus Trek or Cube, where users can OTA-update themselves. @heilmaenner documents this explicitly. @GhostERen on a previous-gen E-Riot EN Pro with Bosch CX Gen 4 reports a recurring knocking noise every 4 seconds under hard torque, eventually traced to a worn-out hub spring and pawl after corrosion from washing in rain — a maintenance lesson rather than a frame fault. @cobra22 finds Bosch's new mode customisation (8 modes on a −5 to +5 scale for assist and dynamics) confusing and lacking transparency about underlying power values. Ghost's UK dealer footprint is smaller than mainstream rivals.
Verdict. The Ghost E-Riot CF is a strong value carbon enduro: Bosch CX Gen 5 power, an 800 Wh removable battery, modern 64-degree geometry, twelve size points and a £6,499 LTD trim that punches well above its price on suspension and drivetrain. It suits buyers who want top-tier Bosch with maximum spec-per-pound and are happy to visit a Bosch dealer for the optional torque update. Riders wanting frictionless OTA updates, the lightest possible carbon chassis (under 22 kg), or established UK dealer networks should look at Trek Rail+ or Cube Stereo Hybrid One77. Production status: current.
