Alloy enduro eMTB with Shimano STEPS EP6/EP8 motor

The GT eForce 2025 is a value-led full-power aluminium trail eMTB built around Shimano's EP801 drive unit, with 160 mm of fork travel and 150 mm at the rear. Headline numbers: 85 Nm of torque, a 630 Wh removable battery, a competitive 23.6 kg claimed weight at this price, a 64 degree head angle and reach stepping from 437 mm on S to 512 mm on XL. The community framing is straightforward: this is one of the cheapest routes into a properly modern, full-power EP801 trail bike, with the price of admission dropping the brand-cache of a Specialized or Trek.
Drive system and range. Shimano EP801 delivers 85 Nm of torque, a 250 W nominal rating and a manufacturer-claimed 600 W peak. This is the current-generation Shimano motor with its smoother top-end ramp and improved thermal management over the launch EP8. Press testing positions EP801 as marginally less aggressive than the Bosch CX Gen 5 but better at managing uneven cadences and pedal strokes, which makes it genuinely useful for newer riders on tight switchbacks. The Shimano BT-E8036 630 Wh pack is removable; a forum thread confirms that the second-generation 630 Wh E806 battery shares the same mount and fits perfectly. 630 Wh is modest by 2025 standards (rivals routinely run 720 to 800 Wh) and a long-day rider will want a spare battery.
Geometry and handling. A 64 degree head angle is squarely modern enduro-leaning trail, slacker than category norm for 150 mm rear travel and pointing to a descent-biased setup. Reach progression is clean and consistent: 437 mm on S, 462 mm on M, 487 mm on L and 512 mm on XL, a steady 25 mm per size. The 458 mm chainstay is held constant across sizes, which keeps the back end planted on S and M but is the usual missed-trick on the XL. Wheelbases run 1260 to 1335 mm, which is on the longer side for a 150 mm rear-travel bike and reflects the deliberate trail-bike-into-enduro positioning.
Build and value. Two trims. The base at £3699 and the AMP at £4500, both 23.5 to 23.6 kg. At £3699 you get an aluminium frame, Shimano EP801 motor, the proven 630 Wh BT-E8036 pack and a 160 mm fork. The value picture is genuinely strong: most rivals with EP801 and a 160/150 mm chassis start nearer £5000. The trade for the low price is mid-tier suspension and drivetrain components rather than top-shelf kit, and a 630 Wh battery rather than a bigger 720+ Wh.
Community-verified strengths. Verified facts on the forum focus on the chassis and battery compatibility. A confirmed user post establishes that the 630 Wh BT-E806 second-generation Shimano battery is a drop-in fit, useful for spare-pack riders. The EP801 motor itself has wide press recognition for cadence smoothness and consistent on-trail power, particularly on technical climbs. And 23.6 kg at this price is competitive for a 160/150 mm full-power trail bike in 2025.
Caveats and known gripes. Three honest flags. The 630 Wh battery is small by current 2025 standards: a Cube Stereo Hybrid, Cannondale Moterra Neo or Specialized Levo will all give you 800 Wh and more range at a slightly higher price. The constant 458 mm chainstay across S to XL is a missed-trick for the XL. And GT has a thinner UK and EU dealer network than the mainstream brands, which matters for warranty service. No specific GT eForce 2025 owner reports are yet on file in the forum, so reliability data is limited.
Verdict. The GT eForce 2025 is the bike for the value-driven rider who wants a modern, slack-ish 160/150 mm aluminium trail eMTB with the current-generation Shimano EP801 motor and is happy to trade brand cache for a sharp price. Riders prioritising bigger batteries, dealer-network depth or top-tier suspension should look at a Cube Stereo Hybrid 160, Trek Rail or Specialized Levo. Production status is current.
