DJI Avinox high-pivot carbon mullet eMTB

The Forbidden Druid LitE 2025 is the Canadian brand's lightweight carbon high-pivot eMTB, built around the DJI Avinox M1 motor (105 Nm torque, 250 W rated, 1000 W manufacturer-claimed peak, 2.52 kg) and a 600 Wh DJI Avinox FP800 battery. Travel is 150 mm front and 140 mm rear on Forbidden's Trifecta V3 high-pivot four-bar carbon chassis with idler pulley and rearward axle path. Mixed wheel setup (29/27.5). Single base trim at £8,499, claimed weight 20.8 kg. Four sizes from S1 to S4, reach 437-493 mm, head angle 64.6 degrees flat, size-tuned chainstays 427-470 mm (growing with size), wheelbase 1189-1311 mm. The community read in one line: a genuinely innovative carbon high-pivot lightweight that confidently outperforms the Specialized Kenevo SL on most terrain, with size-tuned chainstays and DJI motor power, but now discontinued.
Drive system and range. The DJI Avinox M1 is the first-generation Avinox motor — 105 Nm torque, 1000 W peak, 2.52 kg. DJI's full smartphone tuning ecosystem, GPS, 4G connectivity, anti-theft features via touchscreen. The 600 Wh battery is removable. @jcmonty notes "600 Wh battery is sufficient for rides under 2 hours" — real-world range will sit in the 30 to 50 km territory on Trail/Boost mode. @jcmonty notes the Druid LitE "is noticeably harder to pedal than Levo SL with motor off; needs 1-2 gears lower for equivalent power to ground" — high-pivot idler drag is the trade-off.
Geometry and handling. The size-tuned chainstays are the standout. They grow with size: 427 mm (S1), 441 mm (S2), 456 mm (S3), and 470 mm (S4). This is one of the most aggressive chainstay scaling progressions in the entire eMTB market — shorter riders get a properly agile rear-centre and tall riders get genuine stability. 64.6 degree head angle is bang on the all-mountain norm. Reach progresses 437 mm (S1), 454 mm (S2), 474 mm (S3), 493 mm (S4). The Trifecta V3 high-pivot with idler delivers tangible square-edge bump absorption.
Build and value. Single base trim at £8,499 (20.8 kg). Multiple build levels: Build 1 (top) gets RockShox Lyrik Ultimate Charger 3.1 and Super Deluxe Ultimate shock; Build 3 (entry) gets Lyrik Select+ and Super Deluxe Select+. SRAM Maven Base 4-piston (entry) up to SRAM Code Bronze, with 200 mm rotors. SRAM Eagle 90 (mechanical) or GX AXS Transmission. @Jenson documents the base build Size 3 with 600 Wh at 48.3 lbs / 21.9 kg with pedals, cut bars and tubeless sealant.
Community-verified strengths.
- @jcmonty: "Forbidden Druid Lite with 160/140mm travel is more confidence-inspiring than Kenevo SL in most situations except steepest/roughest tracks." Strong endorsement vs the most-praised SL rival.
- @jcmonty: "Forbidden Druid Lite with 600Wh battery is more playful and pops better than a lighter-by-a-few-pounds Kenevo SL due to where the battery weight sits (lower center of gravity)." Mass placement makes a real-world difference.
- Size-tuned chainstays 427-470 mm is class-leading geometry scaling — Specialized and Norco offer similar tuning but Forbidden has the largest progression range.
- High-pivot suspension with size-specific rear-centre delivers tangible big-hit absorption advantages.
Caveats and known gripes.
- Production status: discontinued at this canonical entry. The current Forbidden Druid Core / Druid SL platforms are the successors.
- @jcmonty: "noticeably harder to pedal than Levo SL with motor off." High-pivot idler drag with motor off is real.
- 600 Wh battery is small. Rides over 2 hours push the limits, and there's no 800 Wh option on the LitE chassis (Druid Core has the 800 Wh).
- @Jenson notes stock wheels are heavy at 3,050 g rear / 2,410 g front — a good candidate for weight savings.
- Forbidden is a small Canadian brand with growing but still limited international dealer network.
Verdict. The Forbidden Druid LitE 2025 is one of the most-considered carbon high-pivot lightweight eMTBs ever made — size-tuned chainstays, DJI Avinox M1 motor power, and the high-pivot Trifecta V3 kinematics put it ahead of most rivals for technical descents. It suits riders who want a sub-21 kg lightweight that genuinely outperforms the Kenevo SL on chunk, who value Forbidden's small-batch carbon engineering, and who fit the four-size range. New buyers should look at the successor Druid Core or Druid SL platforms; used Druid LitE examples remain genuinely competitive purchases. Production status: discontinued.
