Straightforward alloy trail bike for relaxed rides and daily use

The 2022 Focus Thron² was the German brand's aluminium trail eMTB, built around 130 mm of travel front and rear with Focus's F.O.L.D. linkage and 29in wheels. Every trim ran the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 motor with 85 Nm of torque, with the down tube battery removable for charging. It is now discontinued.
The range split clearly by budget. The 6.7 and the equipped 6.7 EQP and 6.8 EQP trims paired a 625 Wh PowerTube with the simple Bosch Purion display and SR Suntour suspension, mixing Shimano Deore 11-speed (6.7 trims) or SLX 12-speed (6.8 EQP) gearing. The flagship 6.9 stepped up to the 750 Wh Smart System battery with the Kiox 300 display, a FOX 34 Float Rhythm fork and FOX Float DPS shock, Shimano XT 12-speed shifting and DT Swiss H1900 wheels.
Geometry was moderate and tour-friendly rather than aggressive: a 66.8 degree head angle and 415 to 470 mm reach across S to XL on the 6.7 and EQP builds, with the 6.9 a touch slacker at 66 degrees and longer in reach. Claimed weights sat around 25.4 to 26.6 kg. The EQP versions added a rack, mudguards, lights and a stand for commuting and bikepacking duty.
Note prices: the 6.7 and 6.7 EQP both carried a UK RRP of £4,199, the EQP being the equipped touring build with a 120 mm fork, lighter tyres, a rack, mudguards, lights and a stand rather than a higher price. The 6.8 EQP and 6.9 GBP figures were not captured, so their native EUR prices (4,499 EUR and 6,299 EUR) are recorded instead.
What the numbers mean on the trail
