Slack 64.1° head angle, 170mm travel and a long 1273mm wheelbase — composed in the chunk, confident when it gets steep, and stable through fast corners.
SAM² 2022
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.
Alloy enduro with matched 170mm travel and reliable Bosch grunt

The Focus SAM² (2022) was the German brand's full-fat enduro e-MTB, built around a 7005 hydroformed aluminium frame with 170 mm of F.O.L.D. travel front and rear, 29in wheels and a Flip Chip that drops the chainstays to 430 mm and slackens the head angle for a 27.5in or mullet 'Drifter' setup. Power comes from the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 (85 Nm) fed by a removable 625 Wh PowerTube and run through the slick C.I.S. integrated cockpit.
Three trims made up the UK range. The 6.7 (around £4,699) paired a RockShox Domain fork with SRAM NX/SX Eagle and Guide T brakes; the 6.8 (around £5,199) stepped up to a RockShox ZEB, Super Deluxe shock and SRAM GX Eagle with Code brakes; and the flagship 6.9 (listed at €6,699) ran a FOX 38 Factory fork, FOX Van coil shock and a Shimano XT 1x12 drivetrain with four-piston XT brakes. Claimed weights ranged from 25.3 kg to 26.2 kg.
The SAM² has since been discontinued. Focus moved its enduro e-MTB line on to a newer platform, and the brand later consolidated around the JAM² family for full-power trail and enduro use, so the SAM² is now an end-of-line model best found used or as old stock.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.
Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.83) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.
Climbs well — a 75.1° seat keeps the front planted. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Rewards commitment; it should feel calmer as the speed rises.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
