Devinci EP 2023
EMTB Forums verdict

The 2023 Devinci EP is the Canadian brand's E-Trail platform, a full-suspension trail eMTB built around a handcrafted 6066-T6 Optimum G04 aluminium frame with 130mm of rear travel via Devinci's eMTB-optimised Split Pivot linkage and 140mm up front. It rolls on 29in wheels at both ends and uses Devinci's FRG flip-chip to switch between a low setting (66.5 degree head angle, 345mm BB height) and a high setting (67.0 degree head angle, 351mm BB), giving riders a slacker, more planted feel or a steeper, livelier one. This bike is discontinued.

For 2023 the EP came in a single build, the Deore 12S, at US$5,999. It pairs a Shimano STEPS E7000 drive unit (250W, 60Nm) with a 504Wh Shimano STEPS E8035 battery, both shielded by moulded frame, motor and battery protection. The build leans practical and durable rather than flashy: RockShox 35 Silver TK fork and Deluxe Select R shock, Magura MT30 four-piston brakes on 203mm rotors, a Shimano Deore M6100 12-speed drivetrain with a Sunrace 11-51T cassette, and Maxxis Minion DHF/DHRII 2.6in tyres in MaxxTerra Exo+. Claimed weight is 24.33kg for a size medium.

Geometry spans four sizes (S to XL) with reach from 435mm to 495mm in the low setting, paired with steepish 76.4 to 76.5 degree seat angles for climbing and a consistent 470mm chainstay. As a Made in Canada alloy trail eMTB at a mid-range price, the EP positions itself as an accessible, durable all-rounder rather than a high-output enduro machine. No owner or long-term reliability data is available here, so this verdict is based on published specification only.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Setting
Descending
52

A solid all-round descender (66.5° head angle, 130mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
39

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
73

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.66) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
69

Climbs well — a 76.4° seat keeps the front planted. 250W of peak power and 60Nm of torque.

Best suited toAll-round trail riding across mixed terrain.

No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.

Watch out forNot a flickable, playful bike at 24.33kg — built to plough, not pop.

Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.

⚙️ Adjustable geometry: this frame has a high/low setting — low drops the BB and slackens the head angle for more descending stability; high lifts the BB and steepens slightly for clearance and a perkier, more playful feel.
