EMTB Forums verdict

The 2023 Devinci E-Troy is the Canadian brand's full-power E-All Mountain platform, now discontinued. Built around a 6061-T6 Aluminum (Optimum G04) frame with 150mm of rear travel and a 160mm fork on 29in wheels, it pairs a Shimano STEPS EP800 motor (250W, 85Nm) with a sizeable 725Wh BMZ battery. Designed and assembled in Canada, it is a do-everything trail and all-mountain machine rather than a lightweight assist bike.

Two builds were offered. The GX (US$8,529) leans aggressive with a Fox 38 Performance Elite fork, Fox Float X Performance Elite shock, SRAM Code R four-piston brakes, SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed, RaceFace Aeffect R30 wheels and a claimed 24.70kg weight. The Deore (US$7,599) drops to a Fox 36 fork, Fox Float X Performance shock, Shimano four-piston brakes and a Shimano Deore M6100 12-speed drivetrain on house-brand V2 Comp wheels, making it the value-focused option.

Geometry is consistent and modern across all four sizes (S to XL), with a 64.8 degree head angle, steep effective seat angles of 77.7 to 78.1 degrees, a 455mm chainstay and reach growing from 445mm (S) to 510mm (XL). Note this is the full-power E-Troy, not the lightweight E-Troy Lite, which is a separate model. As a discontinued bike there is no current owner data here, so cross-check spec and pricing against a dealer before buying used.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
64

A solid all-round descender (64.8° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
27

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
92

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.82) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
79

Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 77.9° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toBig-day all-rounders who climb a lot and still descend hard.

Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.

Watch out forNot a flickable, playful bike at 24.7kg — built to plough, not pop.

Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.

“I bought my E-Troy Lite about a month ago and already have over 200 km on it. I got the GX transmission build, and my first upgrade before trying the Magura was to swap them out with Hayes dominion A4, because I did not trust the stock…”
