Elegant Cube carbon trail eMTB with Bosch Performance CX and 800Wh battery

The Cube Stereo Hybrid One44 SLX 2026 is Cube's mainstream 144 mm all-rounder trail eMTB, built on an HPC carbon front triangle with a 4-bar aluminium rear. Headline numbers: 150 mm fork, 144 mm rear, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 at 120 Nm and 750 W peak (after PU2.0 OTA), an 800 Wh PowerTube, a 65.5 degree head angle, reach 425 to 500 mm across four sizes, 21.5 kg claimed and a sharp £4,269 base price. The community verdict is that this is the value benchmark in mainstream Bosch CX trail bikes, with the One44/One77 platform generally praised by owners like @deertrackdoctor at 2,000 km, though Cube's finishing-quality niggles need watching at delivery.
Drive system and range. The Bosch CX Gen 5 with PU2.0 firmware delivers 120 Nm of torque and 750 W peak with 400% assistance and full hill-hold via the Bosch Flow App. The 800 Wh PowerTube is fully removable and pairs with the Kiox 300 or Purion 400 displays depending on trim. Real-world range on similar Cube/Bosch CX 750 Wh platforms is reported in the 30 to 35 mile range with proper climbing per @Colin1517 on his Stereo 160, and the bigger 800 Wh on the One44 should add 6 to 7 miles at the same intensity. The 600% Bosch assist update is live and Cube's own thread on settings is worth checking.
Geometry and handling. The 65.5 degree head angle is on the steeper side of modern trail norm, biased to climbing efficiency and tight singletrack agility rather than steep-descent composure. Reach progresses 425, 450, 475 and 500 mm with a fixed 438 mm chainstay across all sizes and wheelbase scaling 1207 to 1282 mm. The shorter rear-centre and steeper front make this a sharp-handling trail bike that climbs cleanly, but it is not pretending to be an enduro chassis. 29 inch wheels front and rear with UDH dropout standard.
Build and value. Four trims. The £4,269 base is the value sweet spot of the 2026 Bosch CX Gen 5 trail market: Fox 36 Float Rhythm GRIP 150 mm fork, Fox Float Performance 230x60 shock, Shimano Deore XT BR-M8220 4-piston brakes with 203 mm rotors, and Shimano XT 1x12 mechanical drivetrain. The Race 800 at £6,199, SLX EVO 800 at £6,999 and SLT 800 at £8,499 work up through Fox Performance/Factory and SRAM Transmission territory. Standout is the base trim's XT brakes and drivetrain at the price; questionable is the Float X-class shock spec on a 144 mm rear, plus consistent reports of finishing quality at delivery.
Community-verified strengths. First, the platform's all-round capability: @Colin1517 describes his Stereo Hybrid as climbing "like a mountain goat" and descending "like a sled". Second, the package value is unmatched for a current-gen Bosch CX bike. @Rando_12345 got a One77 SLX in size L for €4,300 all-in including shipping, calling it "easily the best deal out there for a Gen 5 Bosch". Third, the 800 Wh PowerTube and Bosch CX motor are the most refined, dealer-supported drivetrain in the trail eMTB market.
Caveats and known gripes. Cube's biggest issue is delivery finishing. @Haste on the 2025 One44 SLX 800 XL reports the Fox rear shock pressing hard enough into the frame to strip paint after the first 30 km ride, with the same fault confirmed on a second XL at the same shop. The wider One platform has well-documented rattle/creak issues at delivery: @deertrackdoctor lists "God awful creaking caused by shock bolt not being tight, battery cradle rattle from bolt underneath battery lock mechanism coming slack". @Eifice fixed his with a kitchen sponge under the battery and a careful shock-mount torque check. None of these are platform-breaking, but they are jobs to tick off in week one.
Verdict. The Stereo Hybrid One44 SLX is in current production and is the value benchmark of the 2026 Bosch CX Gen 5 trail eMTB segment at £4,269. Buy it if you want maximum Bosch refinement and 800 Wh battery for the lowest cash outlay and you are willing to live with a 65.5 degree head angle and a Cube delivery shakedown. Look elsewhere if you want a slacker enduro front, a coil-compatible chassis or a dealer that sweats the finishing details.
