EMTB Forums verdict

The Crestline S 180 Classic Edition is a US gravity eMTB built and sold in a single limited run of 150 units for model year 2025, priced from $9,999 USD (600Wh build) up to $10,299 USD (800Wh build). The high-modulus carbon frame (laid up by VIP Composites in Vietnam) runs 180mm front and 180mm rear, with the dual-link rear end tuned by Cascade Components. A flip chip on the lower link adjusts rear travel, and Crestline ships size-specific 27.5in (445mm chainstay) or 29in (455mm chainstay) rear triangles so each frame can run MX or full 29in wheels.

The drivetrain is built around the Gen 5 Bosch Performance Line CX Smart System motor with a removable high energy density battery in either 600Wh or 800Wh, plus compatibility with the Bosch PowerMore 250Wh range extender for up to 1050Wh total. The build is gravity-oriented throughout: a RockShox Zeb Ultimate 180mm fork, Vivid Air Ultimate 230 x 65 shock, SRAM Maven Silver brakes on 200mm HS2 rotors, a SRAM GX T-Type transmission, DT Swiss 1700 alloy wheels and Continental Kryptotal Enduro Soft tyres.

Geometry is firmly in DH-adjacent enduro territory: a 63.5 degree head angle across all three rider-height sizes (RH-2/RH-3/RH-4), reach of 450/475/500mm, and a fairly tall static 356mm bottom bracket. The middle RH-3 size is user-configurable between MX (1269mm wheelbase) and full 29in (1278mm wheelbase) at point of sale, while RH-2 is MX-only and RH-4 is 29in-only. Reach can be tuned plus or minus 5mm with an aftermarket reach-adjust headset on the straight 56mm head tube. The model is now sold out and discontinued; Crestline has since moved its current lineup on to DJI Avinox powered RS 181.2 framesets.

“LOL 😂 I wasn't a big fan of the straps-based attachment approach but when you think about the strength issues you will have with any inserts mounted in carbon, going another route to attach the bash guard to the bike makes a ton of…”
