EMTB Forums verdict

The Canyon Neuron:ONfly 2025 is a lightweight carbon trail eMTB built around the Bosch Performance Line SX motor, pitched at the rider who wants e-assistance without the full-power weight or the full-power price tag. Headline numbers: 55 Nm of torque, 400 Wh Bosch CompactTube battery, 140 mm front / 130 mm rear travel, a 64.5 degree head angle and a £4,999 base trim. The community read so far is that the Neuron:ONfly is genuinely impressive value, with Rockhopper70 calling it "an incredible bargain at £3,900" with a Bosch SX motor that "pulls like a steam train" on climbs.

Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line SX is currently one of the leading lightweight motor systems in production, with 55 Nm of torque, a 600 W manufacturer-claimed peak and an integration weight of just 2.0 kg. The CompactTube 400 Wh battery is removable, and a 250 Wh range extender is supported (rider notes the SX delivers 55 Nm with a 400 Wh main battery plus 250 Wh extender option). With 650 Wh of total potential capacity on a 130 mm rear-travel trail platform, real-world range easily covers most full-day rides for moderate riders, though hard chargers in eMTB mode will see the battery deplete faster than a full-power 720 Wh equivalent. The SX motor's higher cadence character is the recurring caveat: Rockhopper70 notes the "spinny nature" and "freewheeling rattle" feature in most published reviews.

Geometry and handling. The Neuron:ONfly uses a 4-bar suspension layout with five frame sizes, reach stepping from 410 mm (XS) through 510 mm (XL). The head angle is 64.5 degrees across the range, which is appropriately modern for a 140 mm trail eMTB and notably slacker than the Bergamont E-Contrail-class trail rivals. The 450 mm chainstay is fixed and wheelbase grows from 1,179 mm (XS) to 1,301 mm (XL). The XS gets 130 mm rear travel like the larger sizes but with a shorter fork specced for smaller riders — a sensible touch. The geometry signals a confident descender for the travel bracket, with stability that should outpunch its mid-130 mm rear travel on faster trails.

Build and value. Four trims are available: the CF, CF 7, CF 8 and CF 9, with the base at £4,999. The full-carbon (CF) frame is shared across the range, with parts spec stepping up through the ladder. Canyon's direct-sales model is the key value lever here, and drocho notes that as of May 2025 the older Bosch Gen 4 powered Neuron:ON CF has been quietly removed from Canyon's website, leaving the Neuron:ONfly (lightweight) and the alloy Neuron:ON AL (full-power) as the two pillars of the trail line.

Community-verified strengths. First, value: Rockhopper70 rates the bike "an incredible bargain at £3,900" and "after two rides genuinely cannot understand the clamour for more and more power." Second, climbing: the same rider praises the SX motor that "climbs brilliantly" and "pulls like a steam train" despite the lower nominal torque. Third, the range-extender ecosystem: Bosch's 250 Wh add-on takes the bike well past lightweight competitors that have no extender option.

Caveats and known gripes. The Bosch SX has a higher-cadence, spinnier delivery than full-power motors, which polarises riders — Rockhopper70 flags this is the consistent caveat across reviews, alongside a freewheeling rattle that some find intrusive. The 400 Wh main battery is also modest by class standards if you frequently ride without the range extender.

Verdict. The Canyon Neuron:ONfly 2025 is the bargain pick of the lightweight trail eMTB class for 2025, suiting riders who want an active, natural-feeling motor, modern 64.5 degree geometry and a Bosch dealer network behind them, at a price that genuinely undercuts the segment. It is less suitable for buyers who need the outright peak torque of a full-power 90 to 120 Nm system, or who find the SX cadence character off-putting. Production status: current.

“That's cool, Shimano told me you don't have to set a bluetooth mode on the E7000 ? "Thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the E7000 has a Bluetooth function which allows you to connect with the E-TUBE app. The difference with the E8000…”
