Steeper 68° and shorter travel — happiest descending smooth, flowy trail rather than properly rough or steep terrain.
Grand Canyon:ON 2024
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The 2024 Grand Canyon:ON is Canyon's aluminium flagship hardtail eMTB, built around a Bosch Performance Line CX motor (85 Nm) and a 750Wh PowerTube battery on a 29in, 120mm-fork platform. It is pitched as an all-day do-it-all adventure machine rather than a hard-charging trail weapon, and the geometry reflects that: a moderate 68-degree head angle, 76.5-degree effective seat angle, 460mm chainstays across all sizes and a low 309mm BB make for stable, planted handling rather than aggressive slackness.
The three-trim ladder is tightly spaced. The 7 (£3,099) runs a RockShox Judy Silver TK fork, SRAM DB8 brakes, a Shimano Deore drivetrain and a rigid seatpost. The 8 (£3,499) is the sweet spot, adding a FOX 34 AWL fork, a Deore XT rear mech, a 12-speed Shimano Deore group and an Iridium dropper post. The 9 (£3,999) tops out with Magura CTE ABS braking and a fuller XT build. All three share the same frame, motor, 750Wh battery and 23 to 24kg claimed weights, so the spend goes on suspension, brakes and drivetrain rather than ride platform.
This model year is discontinued. Canyon has since relaunched the line as the Grand Canyon:ON AL (7/8/9), moving to the latest Bosch Performance Line CX with higher peak output and a larger battery option while keeping the same do-it-all hardtail brief. British buyers seeking the 2024 bike will now find it only on the used market.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.69) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 and a steep 76.5° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.
Fine at trail pace; it'll feel out of its depth on properly rough, steep tracks.
