Bulls Sonic EVO EN 2022
EMTB Forums verdict

The 2022 BULLS Sonic EVO EN is the full-power Bosch enduro in the Sonic EVO range, and it should not be confused with the lighter, carbon-framed Shimano-powered Sonic EVO EN-SL sold alongside it. Now discontinued, the EN ran on an aluminium frame with 180mm of fork travel, a Bosch Performance Line CX (Gen 4, 85Nm) drive unit, and the older non-Smart 625Wh PowerTube battery with a Bosch Purion display.

It was a genuine mixed-wheel (mullet) bike: a 29in front wheel with a 27.5in rear, shod with burly Schwalbe rubber (Magic Mary up front, Big Betty or Hans Dampf at the rear depending on trim). Geometry was aggressive for the era at a 64-degree head angle and a 77-degree seat angle, with only two frame sizes offered (44cm and 48cm, reach 450mm and 480mm).

Two builds were sold. The EN 1 (6,497 euro RRP) paired an SR SUNTOUR Durolux 38 fork and Tri Air shock with Shimano Deore four-piston brakes, and Bulls quoted its chassis as 180mm of travel. The EN 2 (7,637 euro RRP) stepped up to a RockShox ZEB Select RC fork and Deluxe RT Select+ shock, TRP DHR GOLD brakes and DT Swiss H 1900 wheels, with Bulls listing 180/170mm of travel. Both used a Shimano XT rear mech with an 11-speed 10-51T cassette and an E-Thirteen crank. BULLS bikes were never given a true GBP RRP, so pricing is quoted in euros only.

This is a positioning and spec summary drawn from BULLS' own 2022 product pages and a period Velomotion test; there is no owner-reported long-term reliability data captured here.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
81

Slack 64° head angle, 170mm travel and a long 1281mm wheelbase — composed in the chunk, confident when it gets steep, and stable through fast corners.

Playfulness
39

More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.

Size balance
81

Balanced front-to-rear in L (FC:RC 1.87) — weight sits evenly between the wheels.

Technical climbing
59

Climbs well — a 77° seat keeps the front planted. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toFast, steep, rough tracks — and riders who want maximum composure.

Rewards commitment; it should feel calmer as the speed rises.

Watch out forNot a flickable, playful bike — built to plough, not pop.

Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.
