EMTB Forums verdict

The Bulls Sonic EVO EN-SL 1 Carbon was the long-travel, lightweight enduro sibling of the 140mm AM-SL, built around a full carbon frame with 160mm up front and 150mm out back on 29in wheels. It is a discontinued 2023 model.

Power came from the Shimano EP801 motor (85Nm) fed by the semi-integrated Bulls Sonic V10 pack (725Wh rated), and despite the full-power drive the claimed weight stayed around 21.7 to 22.1kg, which was the bike's headline feature. The standout build detail was the electronic Shimano XT Di2 M8150 1x11 drivetrain, unusual at the roughly 6,699 euro price.

Suspension was RockShox Lyrik Select up front and a Super Deluxe Select+ shock, with Shimano Deore BR-M6120 brakes on large rotors, Mavic E-Deemax wheels and Schwalbe Magic Mary / Big Betty Super Trail tyres. Geometry was moderately aggressive for the class: a 65 degree head angle, 74.5 degree effective seat angle and 450mm chainstays across all four sizes.

As a discontinued bike, availability is now limited to remaining stock and the used market.

What the numbers mean on the trail

Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.

Size
Descending
61

A solid all-round descender (65° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.

Playfulness
46

A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.

Size balance
98

Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.77) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.

Technical climbing
71

Climbs well — a 74.5° seat keeps the front planted. 600W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.

Best suited toAll-round trail riding across mixed terrain.

No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.

Watch out forNo major red flags in the L geometry.

The numbers are well balanced for its category.
