A solid all-round descender (66° head angle, 140mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
Sonic EVO AM-SL 2023
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The 2023 Bulls Sonic EVO AM-SL is the lightweight all-mountain branch of the Sonic EVO family: a full carbon 140/140mm 29er built around a Shimano motor and a 750Wh battery housed in a carbon casing with no separate cover. It is distinct from the full-power Sonic EVO AM and from the 160mm Sonic EVO EN-SL enduro sibling. The bike is discontinued, sold only as a 2023 model year.
The lineup ran four trims. The entry SL 1 pairs the alloy-bodied Shimano EP6 (85Nm) motor with a BULLS Lytro 35 Supreme Air fork, SR Suntour Edge Plus 2CR shock and an 11-speed Deore drivetrain at a claimed 22kg. The SL 2 and SL 3 step up to the Shimano EP801 motor with Deore XT Di2 LinkGlide shifting and RockShox suspension, while the range-topping SL-I uses RockShox Lyrik Ultimate, SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS and Mavic carbon wheels at a claimed 20kg.
Geometry is shared across every trim and stays moderate rather than aggressive: a 66 degree head angle, 75.5 degree seat angle, 450mm chainstays at all sizes and reach growing 430mm to 490mm across S to XL. All sizes run 29in wheels front and rear.
Pricing was set in euros for the German market, from 5,199 euros for the SL 1 up to 10,199 euros for the SL-I. There was no UK GBP recommended retail price.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
Short 450mm rear and a lighter build — easy to pop, manual and throw around.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.75) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Shimano EP6 (DU-EP600) and a steep 75.5° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Easy to throw around; happiest when you're active on the bike.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
