A solid all-round descender (66° head angle, 140mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
Sonic EVO AM-SL 2022
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The 2022 Bulls Sonic EVO AM-SL is the brand's lightweight carbon all-mountain eMTB, built on a full-carbon Sonic E-Power chassis with 140 mm of RockShox travel front and rear on 29in wheels. Power comes from a Shimano STEPS EP8 mid-drive (85 Nm) fed by Bulls' own 750 Wh Sonic V10 pack, so it sits in the higher-capacity end of the lightweight class rather than the sub-500 Wh featherweight bracket. It is now discontinued.
Two trims were offered. The AM-SL 1 Carbon (around 5,199 euro) pairs a RockShox 35 Gold fork and Deluxe Select+ shock with a Shimano Deore/XT mix, Deore four-piston brakes and Shimano WH-MT620 wheels on Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance rubber. The AM-SL 2 Carbon (around 6,199 euro) steps up to a RockShox Lyrik Select RC fork, Deore XT four-piston brakes, DT Swiss H1900 wheels, a carbon riser bar and the Nobby Nic Evo tyre, keeping the same XT rear mech and EP8 motor.
Geometry is consistent and middle-of-the-road for the era: a 66 degree head angle, 75 degree seat angle, 450 mm chainstays and reach growing from 430 mm to 490 mm across the 40 to 51 cm carbon frames. There is no flip chip or adjustable geometry. Both trims share the identical frame and geometry, with the spec being the only differentiator.
No owner ride-feel or long-term reliability data is captured here, so treat the assessment as spec-led. The standout positioning is a carbon Shimano-powered chassis with a large 750 Wh battery at a price that undercuts many carbon rivals.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.75) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 75° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
