Headline numbers: 85 Nm of torque, 600 W peak, a 65 degree head angle and a 412 to 476 mm reach range across four sizes. £4,599 buys the base trim. Community verdict: a sensible, well-thought-out trail tourer for riders who want Bosch reliability without paying boutique money.

Drive system and range. The Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 4 needs little introduction. It is the most-deployed motor in eMTB, with 85 Nm torque, 600 W peak power and the broadest dealer support network in Europe. The Gen 4 unit weighs 2.9 kg and feeds power through a Bosch PowerTube 750 in this trim, a healthy step up from the 625 Wh pack on entry trims, and removable for charging off the bike. On mixed UK trails owners can comfortably expect 50 to 70 km per charge depending on assist mode and rider weight. You get an X-Fusion E-Slide fork at 130 mm, a RockShox Deluxe Select Plus rear shock at 120 mm travel, Shimano BR-MT420 four-piston hydraulic brakes and a Shimano Deore 1x12 drivetrain. The frame is MonkeyLink-ready, which adds genuine value for commuters and tourers fitting lights and accessories. The standout is the 750 Wh pack on the entry trim, where most rivals at this price step buyers down to 625 Wh. The questionable note is the X-Fusion fork rather than a Rock Shox or Fox option, which trades a little damper sophistication for cost.

Owners on the eMTB Forums highlight that Bergamont sits in the small list of sub-€3,000 full-suspension Bosch options when on dealer promotion, alongside Whistle and certain Haibike trims. The MonkeyLink integration, the removable 750 Wh pack and the conservative but well-balanced geometry are the recurring praise points. Bosch's app and four-year battery warranty add real ownership value.

Caveats and known gripes. The 130/120 mm travel and 65 degree head angle make this a trail tourer not a pinner. Anyone wanting steeper, rougher terrain should look at the longer-travel E-Trailster 150 trims or a Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 instead. The 27.9 kg system weight is on the heavier side, even for an aluminium full-power eMTB, so it needs the motor on to feel lively. Component spec on the Tour trim is functional rather than exciting, and any meaningful upgrade path means swapping fork, brakes and possibly drivetrain.

Verdict. The E-Trailster 2024 suits the value-led trail rider who wants proven Bosch hardware, decent battery capacity, MonkeyLink versatility and a comfortable cockpit, in a brand with strong European dealer reach.
