A solid all-round descender (66° head angle, 150mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
iLynx Trail Carbon 2022
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.

The 2022 BH iLynx Trail Carbon launched as BH's lightweight carbon trail eMTB built around the brand's own 2EXMAG motor, rated at 65 Nm and 250 W with assistance to 110 rpm and operated through BH's iRemote rather than a screen. It pairs 150 mm of travel front and rear with a Split Pivot single-pivot layout, 29in wheels and a 540 Wh internal battery that can be topped up by an optional 180 Wh XPro range-extender bottle for up to 720 Wh. Geometry is moderate-modern for the era: a 66 degree head angle, a 75.5 degree effective seat angle, short 451 mm chainstays across all sizes and reach running from 427 mm on the S to 488 mm on the XL over four sizes.
Four trims were offered, all sharing the same frame, motor, geometry and 540 Wh battery, so the differences are entirely suspension grade, drivetrain finish and wheels. The 8.6 at GBP 6,499.90 covers the basics with a FOX 36 Performance fork, FLOAT DPS Performance shock, Shimano MT420 four-piston brakes and Deore shifting. The 8.7 at GBP 7,499.90 steps up to a FOX 36 Factory fork, FLOAT X Factory shock, full XT four-piston brakes and SLX shifting. The Carbon Pro 8.8 at GBP 8,299.90 adds full XT shifting, an FSA carbon crank and Race Face Turbine wheels, and the range-topping Carbon Pro 8.9 at GBP 8,999.90 brings a full Shimano XTR drivetrain and a Fox Transfer Factory dropper.
Because the frame and geometry are common across the range, value hinges on how much fork and damper grade, drivetrain finish and wheel quality matter to you rather than on capability. The 540 Wh pack is modest for the travel, which is where the XPro extender earns its place on longer days.
This generation is discontinued. BH later updated the iLynx Trail Carbon platform with a larger internal battery and a revised version of its 2EXMAG motor, so the bikes here are the earlier 540 Wh launch version of the family.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
A fair bit of pop, but happiest on flowing trail rather than trials moves.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.74) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Climbs well — a 75.5° seat keeps the front planted. 500W of peak power and 65Nm of torque.
No single standout trait — a balanced, versatile bike.
The numbers are well balanced for its category.
