A solid all-round descender (65.6° head angle, 160mm) — capable in the rough and steep without being an all-out bruiser.
Xtep Lynx Carbon 2022
How current the bike is — newer chassis, motor and battery score higher. 10 = brand-new, 0 = legacy.
Balanced carbon all-mountain bike with reliable Shimano power

The BH Xtep Lynx Carbon was BH's MY2022 carbon eMTB range, built on the patented 'X System' carbon front triangle it shared with the Atom X line but powered by Shimano's EP8 motor (85 Nm) and a 720Wh battery for a claimed range of up to 155km. Suspension is BH's Split Pivot layout on 29in wheels throughout.
BH sold the same frame in two flavours. The Enduro builds run 160mm front and rear: the 9.7 (FOX 36 Performance fork, FOX Float DPS shock, Shimano MT520 brakes, carbon front / alloy rear) at GBP 7,199.90; the 9.8 (FOX 36 Performance, FOX Float X shock, Shimano XT brakes) at GBP 7,899.90; and the flagship 9.9 (FOX 38 Factory fork, FOX Float DHX2 Factory coil shock, full carbon frame, DT Swiss H1700 wheels) at GBP 8,999.90. The Trail builds drop to a 140mm fork: the 8.7 (FOX 34 Rhythm) at GBP 6,999.90 and the 8.8 (FOX 36 Performance, full carbon, FOX Float X, XT brakes) at GBP 7,799.90.
Geometry is aggressive trail to enduro: a 65.1 to 65.6 degree head angle, a steep 73.7 degree effective seat angle, a notably short 465mm chainstay across all sizes, and reach from 421mm (S) to 461mm (L and XL). The XL is a tall-rider size that shares the L's reach and stack, extending only the seat and head tubes. Note BH's own published wheelbase column is corrupt; the plausible figures here (1213 to 1264mm) come from mtb-news.de geometrics, which cross-checks the rest of the table to the millimetre.
The Xtep Lynx Carbon name was later retired as BH consolidated its eMTB range under the iLYNX naming, so this model is discontinued. It should not be confused with the BH Atom X Lynx Carbon of the same era, which is a separate trail line on a Brose Drive S Mag motor.
What the numbers mean on the trail
Computed from this bike's geometry, spec and build kit — reach, wheelbase, chainstay, head and seat angles, travel, motor, weight and the fork/tyre/brake spec — and worked out per size, because a fixed chainstay can make an S and an XL feel very different.
More planted than poppy — better on steep terrain than tight, fiddly singletrack.
Rear-long with a planted front in L (FC:RC 1.72) — easy to weight the front and quick to turn, though it can feel light at the back at real speed.
Shimano EP8 (DU-EP800) and a steep 73.7° seat angle keep the weight planted over the front — a proper winch. 500W of peak power and 85Nm of torque — a strong full-power motor.
Strong up and composed down — a do-it-all, not a specialist.
Brilliant on fast, rough, steep terrain; less fun on tight, mellow trails.
