Hi, upgrades to my Rail 7 I ride a Trek Rail 7.
The Rail 7 is a solid base to build on. The community has thrown quite a lot of upgrades at various Rail models over the years, so there's plenty to draw from.

The single biggest bang-for-buck upgrade is almost universally agreed to be a coil shock. @Doomanic reckons it's a transformative change, and the DVO Jade X is a popular choice in 230mm. Worth knowing that @Tone461 found the wheel contacted the seat tube at 65mm travel with a 27.5 rear wheel on a Medium, so check clearances before you commit to a stroke length.

Forks are the next obvious target. The Zeb Ultimate in 170mm gets consistent praise for torsional stiffness and a plush feel that apparently borders on coil territory. You can run the Rail up to 180mm front travel if you want to go further.

Brakes and wheels tend to follow. Hope Tech 4 V4s are a popular swap, and if you're running stock rims, wider alloy or carbon hoops with DT Swiss internals make a noticeable difference in tyre feel and durability.

What's your riding style and budget? That'll narrow down where to start.
