First time using eco mode for an extended time on a flat gravel path and this happens:

W010 – Drive unit temperature higher than normal
Restrictions:

Power assist may be lower than usual
Remedy:
If no improvement, contact place of purchase

Turned it off and on and continued riding using trail mode no faults.

Seems to be a common random problem with shimano, has nothing to do with the mode your using , I bet there was no detectable heat iether . It usually re boots ok or can result in a w013 error . All the codes have a meaning , but never seem to point to the fault and are not seen on the pc took if it’s plugged in .
Mine were often caused by dirt getting into the conectors on top of the motor , pull them out and clean them , also same with the conectors under the display .

Recently I’ve had this problem occur and it won’t Re boot whatever I do , then 2 days later it just comes back to life and runs fine like nothing ever was wrong . I’ve sent my motor back , not heard Back but I’ll update when I do.
