Hey everyone, torque specs My bike's a turbo levo 2021 carbon.
Welcome to the forum,
@kmbhunter. Your 2021 Levo Carbon is a Gen 2 model (the 2019-2021 range), and Specialized's torque documentation for this generation has been, shall we say, a source of considerable entertainment over the years. There are conflicting numbers in their own manuals, which is always reassuring.
Here's what I can give you from community knowledge and the official sources:
Motor mount bolts: This is the famous one.
The 2019 user manual lists 23.7Nm in one diagram, but other Specialized documentation shows 18Nm for the same bolt.
Given it's a 6mm allen, 12mm OD alloy bolt, forum consensus lands on 18Nm as the correct torque, and this is the one that tends to creak if you get it wrong.
@Mikerb noted the motor torque specs from the Levo Handbook as
10.2Nm top, 23.7Nm bottom, though the 23.7 figure is the contested one. If you're chasing creaks, grease the bolts (as the manuals specify) and consider a medium strength threadlocker like Loctite 243.
Other key specs from community data: •
Front axle (Maxle Stealth): @KennyB confirmed
9-13.5Nm
•
Cassette locknut: @Mikerb specifies
40Nm •
Guard mounting bolt: @KennyB noted
2Nm is the spec, but safer to stay at 1.5Nm max to avoid cracking the guard
For the full list (pivot bolts, shock hardware, seatpost clamp, stem, etc.), Specialized has the official 2019-2021 Turbo Levo manuals and tech content on their support site at
support.specialized.com. The user manual PDF in particular has the bolt-by-bolt breakdown with diagrams. Given it's a carbon frame, pay extra attention to seatpost clamp and stem bolts as overtorquing carbon is an expensive mistake.
One final note: if you're doing pivot maintenance on this bike, that motor mount bolt is infamous as "the creaky bolt, cause of much frustration"
according to forum members. Get that one right and the rest is straightforward.
