Good evening - does anyone have any experience with how hard/easy it is to run the brake line through the frame? Want to replace the rear brake (can‘t use the existing brake line), but have no desire to remove the motor for it…

I just did this yesterday. It's not crazy once you do it a couple of times. Here's what I would recommend.

  1. Remove the front brake from the handle bars.
  2. Remove the stem from the fork steerer
  3. Drop the fork with brake attached and set it aside
  4. The pieces of the headset will just come apart but keep track of the order and set them aside as well.
  5. Drop the battery out as it will give you access to the rear brake line (also the dropper cable)
  6. There's a sheath that the brake line goes through, be aware of that
  7. Cut the olive off and attach the park tool IR-1.2
  8. Reach up into the battery compartment and pull on the cables to figure out which is the rear brake one
  9. Start to pull the cable out of the bottom, it seems the easiest way
  10. once out you should be able to pull the cable with each out of the rear stay
  11. Then do the same in reverse
I did it twice, looks like it's a mess, but it's really one of the easier ones I've done.
