Hi Everyone, I’m new here on this forum. I live in the Netherlands and I love to take mij Turbo levo for a ride on the local tracks or make longer rides.
I’ve got a 2023 Turbo Levo Comp with about 4500 km on it. I only upgraded the sadle and the brakes (Hope Tech 4).

Last year my bike started making some noise when pedalling. The first 20 km it’s ok, then It starts. If I pedal backwards the sound is gone and when I push forwards the sound is a few strokes gone but then it’s back.

I changed cassette, chain and chainring with litle succes.

Last two rides the noise gets worse.

Does anyone have a clue what this could be? I’m thinking perhaps the rear wheelhub or body?

Thanks for any advice :)

Did you check your pedals? I have the one up pedals and they get a squeak every once in a while. I know this isn’t the best fix, but I just drop a few drops of chain lube near the bearing area and it goes away.

Thanks, I’ll try that. Hope it’s that easy.

Spray a Teflon based lube into all the non-braking parts that might be the cause of the problem. Do one at a time. Start with the bottom bracket area. The spray will only be a temporary solution , but if the squeaking stops, then at least you will know where the problem is.
I'm thinking of Weldtite tf2 lubricant spray with teflon (Google it).

I had the same and after going though virtually every nut and bolt I eventually figured out it was one of the front chain ring bolts….only nipped it up a bit and it resolved the problem…let us know how you get on eh?

Thanks! I now have some things to try.

My guess was the drivetrain because the sound is gone when I pedal backwarts, then when I pedal forward it’s gone for a few strokes.

If it was a bolt the noise would be constant, or not?

It depends upon so much, which is why these things are so irritating.
Even when you go through a 100% logical and rigorous sequence to isolate the source, you can still get it wrong. Some of the sources of irritating noises that I have read about on various forums (fora?) are very surprising. How they were located was sometimes even more surprising, ranging from the rigorous to total chance. Keep at it, you will find and silence it. :)

A short update: today I gave the bike a good clean up. The only thing i noticed was that threads in the frame of the rear caliper are damaged (?) so the caliper is slightly loose. That could be a possibility.
Is that a common issue? I have to go to the bike shop for this issue. I’ll keep you posted.

I can see no reason why the caliper would be the source. Reverse pedalling has no resistance so not the same as forward pedalling. Sounds like a loose crank or knackered pedal axle to me. Quick test for the latter is change the pedals.

That’s right, but I noticed it and thought was weird.
I changed the pedals so I am curious of the noise is gone. I’ll have to wait until the weekend to test it.
So there is time to change the TCU battery :(

Here is a short update.
I cleaned the whole drivetrain, changed the pedals and put in a different rear wheel. Ungortunately I had to wait to take it out begite the battery of the TCU was changed. Today I took It for a ride for about 1,5 hour and it rides like new. So I’m very happy.

I’m having the same issue with my Turbo levo comp. I swear it’s the spokes, where they rub together.

I had a bad free wheel cause an intermittent squeak

My wife's bike had a squeaking that came and went. It sounded for sure like a slight brake rub so over several rides I kept trying to align the calipers. Turned out to be dried out derailleur pulleys!

The only reason a noise originally only occurred after 20km that I can think of is the difference between a cold motor and one that has become warmer or maybe hot. The op said that was last year so the problem has had plenty of time to get worse. Sadly I suspect the motor...maybe the belt.
