Speed Limit - Motor Drag?

Question - Any way to unlock the speed limit? I feel like as soon as I stop peddling I lose speed that I need for hitting bigger jumps. It's more like drag than losing speed but in the end it's the same - is this a function of the detuned EP8 RS? Also wondering if unrestricting the motor would help - however not sure if I wan to mess with it.
BTW- Love me M-team Mullet. Put on a DVO Topaz rear shock rides super plush. Went with 160mm front and rear now.
