The classic Gen 4 Levo welcome gift. You're not alone — this one's been doing the rounds.

The short version: it's a known hardware issue with the battery connector/nest. The battery sidles around in its housing during rough riding and loses contact. @jgusta confirms Specialized sent out a redesigned battery harness with springs under warranty to fix exactly this, so your first call should be the dealer. Don't let them fob you off — it's a known fault and there's an official fix.

In the meantime, removing and reseating the battery often clears the error temporarily. @Greeno found a new plug harness sorted it after two months of intermittent grief, so the warranty repair does actually work rather than just masking the problem.

Also worth trying: a firmware update via the Mission Control app. @Gropec found battery and motor firmware updates resolved the detection issue on his. Do that first — it's quicker than a dealer visit and occasionally saves the trip.

If you've already done both and it's still cutting out, @braaten22 went through a full parts lottery (drive unit, harness, charging port, the lot) before getting resolution, so persistence with Specialized is unfortunately sometimes required.

Hi all, specialized levo 4 "no battery detected check app & connector"

@Greg
Here's what worked for me. Turn bike upside down with battery installed. Take off the bash guard. The battery nest adjustment bolts are underneath. The bash guard bolt also holds the nest so that is tightened last. The nest is held in place on just one side of the frame so you can imagine it can angle down on the other side and get out of square with the battery. loosen the bolts a bit and push the nest down on the far side with a thin tool. Hold the nest firm in place while tightening the two bolts. Replace bashguard and tighten the upper bolt as tight as you dare. Also apply dialectric grease to the terminals on the battery and the nest. this has worked for the last few hundred miles no problem and i did not get the new nest which also still has the same problem acording to some. Good luck.
