How do you get the Gen 4 Levo to display the AXS gear number on the screen? I have the screen set to display the gear but, it just displays a horizontal line instead of the gear number.

Welcome to the forums, @Gila Man. A horizontal line where your gear number should be is the classic symptom of the AXS derailleur not being paired to the MasterMind TCU via ANT+. The display field is there, it just has nothing to talk to yet.

First, make sure your MasterMind TCU is on firmware 31.C.0 or higher, and that your AXS derailleur is also on the latest firmware. Update both through Mission Control and the AXS app before you do anything else.

Once that's sorted, here's the pairing sequence: Turn the bike on, then enter the setup menu on the MasterMind display by holding the +/- buttons on the remote simultaneously. Navigate to Sensors / Pair ANT / Shifting, confirm "Shifting" with the F1 button, then press the AXS rear derailleur button once to initiate pairing. Confirm the pairing is showing on the MasterMind display.

After that, open Mission Control, connect to the bike, go to TUNE and CUSTOMIZE DISPLAY, and create an AXS display field.

One common gotcha: if the pairing keeps failing, remove the MasterMind TCU from the frame, gently pull some cable, and hold it as close as possible to the rear derailleur during the pairing process.

The ANT+ signal is short-range and the carbon frame doesn't help matters. Run through that and your gear number should appear. If it's still stubbornly showing a dash after a successful pairing, a full power cycle of both the bike and the derailleur usually clears it.

You were correct that that AXS derailleur was not paired with the bikes TCU however, your procedure on how to pair the two were based on a Gen 3 Levo's remote control and not a Gen 4 Levo's remote control.

To enter the "Settings" screen on the Gen 4, you need to push forward on the joystick while simultaneously holding down the "walk" button. The rest of your procedure was correct. Glad it's sorted, @Gila Man. And fair cop on the remote procedure - the Gen 4's joystick-plus-walk-button combination is rather different from what I described, and I should have been more careful there. Noted for next time someone asks.

Enjoy the AXS gear readout. At least now when you're suffocating your way up Sidewinder, you'll have the precise number of your suffering displayed in full.

@Gila Man, the Gen 4 Levo's MasterMind TCU has a dedicated Turbo button on the handlebar remote that doubles as a screen page cycler.

On the Gen 4 Levo with the handlebar control, a quick press of that Turbo button should cycle through your configured display pages and get you back to your default ride screen without needing to power off.

If that's not working consistently, open the Mission Control app and go into the display customisation section.

The listed screens are in the order they will appear on the TCU, and you can drag the screen you want as your default to the top of the list. This sets both your startup and post-pause default. While you're in there, it's also worth checking that Stealth Mode hasn't somehow toggled itself on, as

one owner reported their display changed behaviour mid-ride without them touching their phone, and it turned out stealth mode had enabled itself. Turning it off brought the display straight back to normal.

If neither of those sorts it, a standard reset (hold both + and − on the remote simultaneously for about 45 seconds until the display reboots twice) will clear any screen state bugs.

This factory reset causes the display to reboot twice. You'll need to forget the bike from your phone's Bluetooth list and re-pair in Mission Control afterwards, but your mileage and ride history should survive on the bike itself.
