Shimano 504wh battery life

What sort of battery life are you getting out of your 500 watt shimano battery? Stun locker says there is significant degradation (70-80% remaining capacity) yet I’ve only put on 400 miles over two batteries that I alternate. I generally only charge battery the day or or sometimes the day before a ride so it’s not sitting at 100% for very long.

I usually get 12-14 miles with about 3,500’ of climbing using eco/trail mode mostly. I’m about 200 pounds with gear (for reference). Bike: Tazer MX Pro (2021).

The battery when it arrived with the bike (purchased new March 2022-built in June 2021) was flat and may have contributed to shortened lifespan.

What says you?

I feel your pain. I’ve got 78% health over 77 charge cycles. last ride was 32km with 750m elevation battery with 3km range left

This battery has 14 cycles, at 88%. Today I climbed 2400’, 9.1 miles, and used 70% battery. Meaning the range would be good for about 12 miles and 3500’ of climbing. All in trail mode which is limited to 190% boost and 70 (85 max) nm of torque. It’s not great but for my local riding it’s fine. I have a second battery if needed for more extensive climbs but it’s 5 pounds which is fairly heavy and takes a lot of space in the backpack. Pedaling the bike with the motor off is nearly impossible up a grade of any kind.

I have had two BT8010 for more than four years, I usually alternate them, I am currently at 88% health and 70 recharges on both, lately I have still done 24km uphill and 1350m in altitude with still 15% battery left. Let's just say they're still doing well right now.

I think it’s the constant elevation gain that was draining mine so fast. I’m in Utah right now and I can easily get 20+ miles whereas back home I’ll see max of 12.

lemme share mine: so, i got this 2020 Commencal with 504kwh at around 657kms from a good friend last year (may or june 2022). rode it the whole summer, approx somewhere 20-30x i fully charged it, usually near empty. then in september 2022, it reached around 1550+kms , fully charged it, never touched it since until late April 2023. and i guess it is kaputt now. tried to many times charging the battery but no good, bike power did not turn on. checked the wiring connection, all good. so it is about 1150$ for a new one. so my next step is to bring it to a bike shop that warranty shimano batteries nearby. ill try to update this.

from the sequence of charges: it stays and looks like the charger & battery led light were lit-up and looks like it is charging it (stays there around 15-45mins) then disappears, waking it up from the deep sleep if ever. did that so many time, didnt wake up.

I wonder if you can have the battery “ rebuilt”. Just change out the cells with new ones. I believe they are 17650 batteries easily available.

I have a '21 Heckler MX that I bought used last year, it has the 504wh battery. I'm in Central Florida so nothing too crazy as far as elevation goes, just a lot of pedaling, like 95% of the time lol. I weigh 150 with my normal riding gear.

My last long ride, coincidentally my longest ride on the e-bike, was a tad over 33mi, lasted 3:05:06, and had 1591' of elevation gain. According to my Garmin, I used 97% of the battery on that ride. Almost all of it was on a modified ECO mode.

Think I'm going to buy a spare battery because I could've kept going for a bit longer as it was a nice day. I was a bit bummed, if I was riding in Trail or Boost, I'd probably gotten half that range and that kind of sucks.
