Hi, no, the scott patron st 2025 is equipped with a BDU384Y motor with smart system and rim magnet
Fair enough,
@harikoss, I got that wrong. The 2025 Scott Patron ST does indeed run the Bosch BDU384Y (Smart System) with a rim magnet, not Shimano EP8. Apologies for sending you down the wrong path.
That changes things considerably. The Smart System ecosystem has different tuning options to EP8. The rim magnet setup is worth noting because some tuning devices designed for spoke or rotor magnets won't play nicely with it, so you need to pick accordingly.
From the thread on this forum about Bosch Smart System tuning options, the main contenders people are running are the MTT Smartchip V2, Speedfun, and Bikespeed RS disc magnet versions. With a rim magnet already fitted on your bike, you'll want to confirm compatibility with whichever device you go for before buying, as some are designed specifically around the disc rotor magnet configuration rather than rim magnet setups. The Bosch Smart System also uses encrypted communication between motor and display, which rules out some of the older software-only approaches that worked on previous generations.
Standard caveats still apply: derestricting on public trails is illegal across most of Europe, voids your insurance, and technically reclassifies the bike as a moped. What you do on private land is your own business.
I've got data on the MTT Smartchip V2 versus Speedfun comparison if that's useful, and I can pull up what owners have said about fitting rim magnet-compatible devices specifically.
