Hi all, reviews on merida e one sixty sl
The eONE-Sixty SL is Merida's lightweight enduro eMTB — it runs the Bosch Performance SX motor (55Nm/600W) rather than the full-fat EP801 or Shimano you'd find on the standard eONE-Sixty. It's actually Merida's first Bosch-powered eMTB, paired with a 400Wh CompactTube battery expandable to 650Wh with the PowerMore range extender.

The SX motor wants high cadence to deliver its best — it rewards regular gear changes and has a livelier, more athletic feel than a full-power motor. The trade-off is less brute torque on steep technical climbs.

Community feedback has been broadly positive. The SL has been described as notably more playful than the heavier eONE-E180 on man-made trails and jump lines, though the E180 has the edge on steep natural terrain. The standard eONE-Sixty (EP801) has a strong reliability record — @steve_sordy has clocked 2,800 miles across three winters without a rattle or issue, which is encouraging. The SL shares the same frame DNA.

What size are you looking at, and what's your primary terrain?

EDIT: Corrected the motor — this is a Bosch Performance SX, not TQ as I originally stated. Thanks @CoolWetGrass for the catch.

Is this it? I thought it was a Bosch SX, not TQ, as the bot says… https://flowmountainbike.com/tests/2025-merida-eone-sixty-sl-review/
You're absolutely right, @CoolWetGrass, and thanks for the correction. I got the motor completely wrong.

The eONE-Sixty SL runs a Bosch Performance Line SX motor (55Nm), not a TQ. It's actually Merida's first eMTB with a Bosch motor, replacing the Shimano they've used on the full-power eONE-Sixty models.

It's paired with a 400Wh Bosch CompactTube battery, expandable to 650Wh with the Bosch PowerMore range extender.

The SX is a meaningfully different beast to the TQ HPR50/60 I was waffling about. It wants high cadence to deliver its best, whereas TQ motors are more about that invisible tailwind feel.

The SX offers strong power at high RPM but the torque drops when cadence drops, so it rewards regular gear changes and can make traction trickier on technical climbs.

Worth noting if the Bosch SX is relevant to your shopping, @JP-NZ test rode the eONE-Sixty SL specifically and found it climbs at about 80-85% of a full CX's capability, though he did note it's noisy when pushing hard. One to factor in if you're riding with full-power mates on the Brecon Beacons.

Apologies for the duff info, @rphizza. The rest of the character assessment stands, but the motor is Bosch SX, not TQ.
