Hi All,

I have a 2021 Stereo Hybrid 160 HCP SL and have a small crack on the rear wheel where they are joined. it was leaking sealant out ever so slightly. I would prefer to replace the wheel than tempt fate riding on it.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good replacement?
I was thinking this wheel - Nukeproof Horizon V2 Rear Wheel 102t | Chain Reaction
148mm x 12mm XD but not sure if this is correct size or suitable wheel for EMTB?

Is it a crack or just where the two edges butt together?
If it's just leaking from the join a careful application of rim tape or similar will be a cheaper solution.

If you’re after bulletproof wheels for an ebike Mike at lacemine29.com hooked me up with a beautiful set of Raceface Arc offset 40’s with
Swiss 350 Hybrid 6-bolt disc hubs, 32h, black. Boost spacing, HG freehub.
RaceFace ARC Offset 40 27.5+ rims, 32h, black.
DT Swiss Competition butted spokes, black.
DT Swiss Prolock nips, black.
good luck 👍

Indeed if it’s the weld that’s started to fail it’s time for a new rim, if it’s just seeping though it may be coincidence it’s where the seem is, Perhaps you burped the tyre recently and theres a build up of old sludge there I’ve had that myself. you should just be able to get away with a re tape, rim clean and let the sealant do it’s magic.

If you do need to go for a new wheel, if you are happy with your existing hub an LBS could do you a rebuild for less than a new wheel. If your hubs a bit tired or you’d just like something new and Shiney I’d be expecting to be paying 220-250 for a like for like replacement, was shocked how cheap the newmen wheels were. The carbon set I found were less than 1000 but we’re way to stiff for me.

Best mountain bike wheels in 2022 | Trail, all-mountain and enduro wheels tested. Was a good article I saw recently. May be good for yourself if you are looking at prebuilt. The horizons both get a good review. and from what I know quality is generally pretty good. I’ve got mostly Nukeproof finishing kit on my Ragley.

I build my own wheels and currently have DT Swiss XM481 on Hope Pro 4’s with DT Competition spokes, on my 2020 Stereo 160SLT. these work for me as I run 2.4 rubber. Love the engagement of Hope hubs which are bombproof but find DT Swiss rims stay true longer When bouncing off rocks.
