So, I took my mate to Tredz to pick up his new emtb as I have a VW transporter. Long story short I ended up buying this Trance X Advanced E+ 0 (2022) | Trail bike | Giant Bicycles UK . It was £8,999 but I had it for £4,700, I've just noticed under house lighting that there's quite a few imperfections in the paint work but tbh I'm not bothered as the price was so good. I've bought padded shorts, trousers, POC Fabio Ltd Edition helmet and cleaning kit plus I have to pop in tomorrow and buy some shoes. I've not had an MTB for over 15yrs, I used to have a Scott Windriver and a Marin Indian Fire Trail. I have arthritis in my rite hip and right knee which I've had for my 25yrs as an Infantry Soldier, 1 RWF and 1 RW. I hope I get into the hobby or this bike will be an expensive clothes hanger... My name is Dai, I'm from Port Talbot, I live right by a mountain, in fact it's where I did all training to get fit when I joined and where I continued my training throughout my Army career.

Hey Dai, if you really want to do it you will. Just stick with it and work around whatever bod shit you've got. (y)
Hey Dai
Welcome , I am in Eyri and Borth , same age ' issh and and also have a Trance x e2 pro and a Whyte E160 rsmx
On the Giant , usually their frame work is top notch , a few things I would do is around the battery and connector and connectors , dialectic grease on the contacts and if your inclined sealing the connectors , from the factory they are pants in my experience,
Make sure your battery if fitted and aligned correctly too.
if your intend to run in the winter , well its always wet in Cymru :) , the sealing on the cables is a must, and dont use a pressure washer any where near the motor.
I have 4.5k on mine and never had a problem , other that the battery alignment and general wear and tear.
You got some good trails near , including Afan forest etc , have fun

Deepest Bandit country (Wales)
another one in gods country😎

I work in PT, you have a great choice of trails and riding locally (y)

I reciently bought a new bike from tredz, I had to rebuild it even though it was supplied in a supposedly ridable condition (ridable by who🤬) - hopefully you've not suffered with a similar experience🤞

Rich.

ps. thankyou for your service

I dont know what pedals you're using but I’d suggest flats (with pins) and 5-10, Crankbrothers or Ride Concepts flat shoes which will give plenty of grip while allowing you to dab if you need to and not be as stressful on your knees (I rode cliplees for 30+ years but found flats better for my 73 yr old knees and ebike).

Yep they changed them in the shop to flap pedals with pins
