Hello,

my new Trek Rail 9.9 has arrived. Did some customizing. 29x2.6 Eddy Current front and 27.5x2.8 Eddy curent rear. Enve wheelset. Magura MT7 brakes with new Magura MDR-P rotors 220/200. Oneup components handlebar and edc-tool. Shorter cranks (160mm E*Thirteen carbon and 150mm Miranda). Oneup components pedals. Sq-Lab 60x saddle and 70x grips.

OMFG! What an absolute pearler! Did you ride it before the wheel size change rear? Keen to hear your thoughts on the differences. I was thinking of taking my brakes out to 220 up front as well...

No. I don´t like 29 rearwheels. I love the grip of the 2.8 Eddy Current in steep, technical uphills. With the mino link in high position, it´s perfect for me.

Wow looks awesome it may have just convinced me to buy a 9.8 , have you riden it with a 27.5x2.8 on the front also ? I've emailed trek about whether it can run plus tryes and they said no

27.5x2.8 in the front is possible, but doesn‘t make sense! Trek can not allow another wheel size, because it would chance the bike and that is not legal with Ebikes. I changed back to 29x2.6 front and rear. Bike feels better with this combo.

Where did you hear that? I have never heard that before, most motor systems have the ability for either the user or the dealer to specify the wheel size to the motor, not that it makes much difference.

Riding smaller wheels on a bike designed for 29'r wheels may be something a brand advises against or invalidates the overall warranty, but plenty of people play around with wheels.

In Germany, changes of wheelsize or other big changes are not allowed for the bike manufacturer. As a private person, you can do it, but the manufacturer will never say it is possible.

I was also looking at getting a scott genius tuned which is advertised as being able to run 29er wheels or 27.5 x 2.8

Is there enough tire clearance on the back with a 27.5x2.8? I was looking at the eddy current tryes also they look great

i have eddy current 2.8 front and rear no problem
