My wife and I are in our early 60s and have owned our Specialized Levos for about 10 years. These are Gen 1 Levos. When we bought them they were about the only proper dual suspension emtb available in Australia. They have been great bikes and we still enjoy them. I have modified our caravan so that we can store them inside when travelling.
On our last trip one of the batteries kept turning off while riding but turned back on with the switch button straight away. After the ride the batteries were charged to about 80%, the batteries were removed from the bikes before transporting them back home.
Several weeks later I have attempted to top the batteries up but only one battery would activate when plugged into the charger. This battery would not start up from the switch either.
I have opened the battery and found moisture inside the case and oxidation around the switch panel and LEDs. I have cleaned the oxidation with isopropyl alcohol and tested the batteries with a multimeter. The batteries are showing 40v total. Most sets of 4 cells are show 4.07v while one set is only 3.63.
Greg has advised me that he may have a start up solution. Thanks Greg.
