Levo Gen 2 Issues with Fox 36 on 2021 Levo

So I got a new but second hand Fox 36 fork which I was planning to have my shop install on my 20201 Specialized Levo Turbo which came with a RockShox 35 29, DebonAir spring, Motion Control damper, 51mm offset, 15x110mm thru-axle.

I had asked the shop before hand if that fork would work, they said it would. So I bought it for 800$ CAD.

Now I called them to make the appointment and they said 'oh not the Rockshock hubcaps are bigger meaning they need to either rebuild the wheel or get a new hub / rotors'.

I only know how to ride a bike, nothing else - but does this make to anyone? Anyone has gone through this experience themselves?

Sounds like RS Torque Caps. What hub? If you're lucky you might be able to get different end caps for it.

Another thread here...

Ah thank you, that seems to be the issue.

It doesn't give me any brand name, on the hub itself it just says '15x110mm'. And the website says 'Alloy, sealed cartridge bearings, 15x110mm thru-axle, 28h'.

I'm having a fox 38 installed next week...assume that I'll have the same problem. Please post the resolution...?

My bike shop says they are looking into it: its either finding new caps, new hub or new wheel... they are going to research the best solution and said they’d get back to me in a couple days. Will let you know when I know.

Which model Levo? You should be able to identify the wheelset. All you need to do is replace the Maxle end caps with regular ones if they're available. Have you thought about emailing Specialised for more information on the wheels being used?

Its the 2021 Turbo Levo with Rockshock 35 fork.

My bike shop is reaching out to get some answers. I am surprised not more people have this issue!

The solution of my bike shop: replace the whole wheel for $500. Seems a bit ridiculous.... Not going to do that.
I guess I'll try and sell the fork again and get a RockShockz instead. Did not expect this to be such an issue!

I had the opposite problem .
Bought a wheel with larger end caps that wouldn`t fit in a Fox 34 . I got them turned down by an engineering shop to fit . Cost $ 50 !

I think you can buy adaptors to fit the larger diameter .

Yes, its just that the ones I would need (part # S205900002) are currently not in stock anywhere. Not in Europe and not in North America.

I'll try and sell the Fox fork so I can get a RockShox one (I guess that is why they add those Torque caps) or otherwise I'll have to throw another 500+$ at it. Jeesz.

So it took just under two months, but the fork has been installed. Had to wait to get the Specialized end caps in, had it done by the shop. Very happy with it!

Silly why Fox forks don't accept torque caps. Heck, even Trust Performance Massage forks do. In my opinion Fox is dropping the ball. Looks like my next e bike is going to be a 2021 Specialized S Works Levo SL. It's got thr new Fox 36 forks on it. I know the bikes hubs don't take torque caps but I do like them. Any thing to stiffen up the front end.
