Hi folks,

i just stepped over this forum from a recent review of the new Scott Genius from Rob.

I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit and give you a hint, of what I use my bike mostly and special cases.

When I was younger, i used my bike- as many childs do- for just getting around all areas and places. Looking back, i had a solid reach of different bikes, but i never was a technical or trick guy, mostly just riding for fun and looking around the area.

Around 7 years ago, i needed a good vacation and so I asked my friends about, where to go for a trip with my bike for lets say- tourist attractions. I like camping, and after I thought through, i got myself a trailer and so I landed in the now known backpacker thing.
I knew about technical stuff, but never really thought of it (my last bike was no big deal) but had a few nice years and holidays with it.
Here is a pic of one of my first holiday tours.

Over the years, i had a lot of fun, riding bike roads, through wood streets/ trails and quite "normal" stuff. Particularly in hot summer days it was a little harder, getting around with trailer and a bunch of stuff coming uphills. That was the moment, were E-Bikes were just getting around. So i thought, that could be it, to make it easier riding all your stuff around the hills. At the start, i always had those typical first "cheater" thoughts (and also most designs were more for senior people) but that turned with the arrival of E-MTB. I got in the theme, read a lot, got in touch with the technical specs and then i was blazed by the Turbo look: E-Bike with the mostly "normal" design of an MTB.

After getting my hands on a ride, i was a total believer in the tech.
1 years now backpacking with my trailer and my E-Bike i am now trying to get in the basic of technically Trail riding. With my Turbo I have the right equipment, to get where I want, when I want and travel up ways, where I would have never thought of driving there on my old bike. One thing about travelling i experienced, is the further range. A daily tour reach of 170km is possible, depends on the up/down and the streets/ways. And bike riding is always fun. No search for parking lot, can make a break nearly everywhere and enjoy the sight.
My actual set up (for touring):

Specialised Levo Turbo Expert with B.O.B. Ibex trailer

I am no beginner with my skills-
but practising and progressing is one of my goals. Now I have a bike for getting into trails and technique stuff and that is what I want to do.

On my trips, i had such nice meetings with other people- with and without bikes.
I`d love to meet more and have a nice chat.

For my touring tours with my bike and my trailer I have always a spare battery with me.
For one day trips without my trailer I plan, and if it gets up to around 60 ~ 80 km (depends on the rout) I take the spare battery with me in my backpack.

Going in the woods and driving real trails, it depends how far you come with the terrain. But you can come easy 40 km with one load by only going uphill and steep sections without problems. My farthest one day out tour was till now a little bit of over 175 km, with one battery it was ~105 km.
I have had tours with bad streets/ trails and travelled 120 km on that day, but with travelling the last 30 km without battery.
The nice thing is- if you have got no support from motor, you can still drive bike, but to the weight and the wheel size its just a little bit harder to keep your pace.

In last April I had a 5 day tour for around 530 km from Frankfurt to Donauwörth, visiting friends on the route, staying by them over afternoon/ night or campinggrounds. Due to technical issues (had a double flat on my trailer and only one spare tube) I had daily steps between 65 km and 165 km. On the 165 km i spent a lot of time in Eco mode and reached my destination with the last 2% of my battery of my spare battery. On the over day I travelled 125km with just over 40% left in the spare on.

It really depends how active you switch the modes, and how your settings are and naturally how much "work" you put in yourself.

I know, that how I use my bike is not the normal rider thing. I don`t see my bike as a training machine, its my fun machine for me. I havent got the fitness level of getting fast along and riding technical stuff yet (I am working on that), but my endurance over the long term is really well. And getting out, exploring corners of the country you live in and get into camping in one tour is great.
