Has anyone fitted MT7 brakes to Hope Floating Rotors?

Just wondering if you ran into any issues? I got given 2 hope rotors for christmas but want Magura MT7 brakes, don't want to have to sell these rotors second hand an buy new MT7 rotors too...

If it helps I have the floating Hope 220's with MT5's (running the individual MT7 pads) and the setup works great. No issues with fitting.

The rotors are very similar in thickness (2mm for Magura MDR-P and 2.3mm for Hope Floating Rotors).

I tried a Hope rotor in my mt5 (same as mt7) caliper - it fitted fine, brake levers had slightly less leverage/movement but other than that they worked fine 👍

I think you will find it's the other way round...? Actually, I thought the Hopes were 1.8mm...

from the respective websites; Hope seem to make 2 varieties:

Hmm... I don't think they offered both when I got mine. I was aware they did a 2.3mm 'EMTB' version when I got mine but thats a solid disc.

I might measure mine out of curiosity!

Nope, no filing. although from memory the bobbins are pretty damn close to the spacers. No contact whatsoever though, at least on my bike.
I'm stuck between them and Hope Tech 3 ATM. Did like the feel of the MT5 I felt the other day...have to post a pic of yours if you get chance 👍🏻

Rumour is the Tech 4 has the same power as the Maguras but better modulation… but I cant find anyone thats tested them yet 🤦‍♂️
I've seen reviews on them but you can't really judge them. Not been out that long have they? Should be good. Guy at shop said Hope wouldn't release a product that's worse than their last

Did anyone get to the bottom of the thickness of a hope floating rotor?
I can't find anything concrete online to confirm.
I want 2mm minimum, not 1.8mm.

I'm fairly sure the hopes are indeed 1.8mm. I'll measure mine later. I suspect that the image posted by shockwave isn't particularly accurate given the jaws on the mic seem to be slightly open, although might just be the angle of the pic.

Agree, the calipers

The measuring calipers do appear to be slightly twisted.

The MT5 & MT7 calipers are slightly different the pads are closer together on the 7s compared to the 5s

Cheers for that. I'm really struggling to decide on suitable rotors.
I want a 203 and a 220 ideally min 2mm thickness due to the hope v4 being designed to take their 3mm vented. I don't like how much piston is exposed with thinner rotors.
Unfortunately aesthetics come into it and I don't like the look of the hope 2.3 solid rotor and the magura floaters I own float a bit to much after 6 months
Think it may end up being galfer but with a new mount as theirs are 223mm.

This doesn’t make any sense, there seems to be contradictory info out there on the Version 4 Hope rotors. According to Hope these new rotors are specifically designed for ebikes and as such are supposed to be 2.3mm thick. Having said that the version 4 full floating are…1.8 !? 🤨

Where is the confusion?
floaters - 1.8mm
vented - 3mm
fixed heavy duty rotors - 2.3mm
fixed rotors - no idea 1.8 or 2mm maybe?

The main problem is hope not publicising the rotor thickness of any rotor bar the heavy duty one :sneaky:

Where is the confusion you ask ?! I have never dealt with a company like Hope. Something that every single other rotor manufacturer clearly states, Hope seems to be lost in.
How is this for more confusion:

Directly from Hope
“ The vented discs are 3.4mm thick and suitable for the V4 caliper only, these are available in 203mm or 220mm.

Part number for a 203mm vented disc in black is HBSP4342036VN “

😳 This is clear as mud, I guess I won’t be purchasing ANYTHING from these incompetent idiots. 🤨
