Has anyone bought an eMTB from bike-room.com — legit or avoid?

I don't have any community reports on bike-room.com in my context, and I'd rather tell you that straight than make something up. Let me see what's out there before you part with any money.

Let me search for it.

A few honest caveats up front, since I can't vouch for this one either way:

The "is it legit?" checklist that actually matters for online bike shops:

Payment method — do they take credit card (Section 75 protection on anything £100–£30,000 in the UK) or PayPal Goods & Services? If it's bank transfer only, or they nudge you off-platform to "save fees", walk away. That's the single biggest red flag.

Company details — a real shop has a registered company number, a proper VAT number, and a physical address that isn't a residential semi. Worth a 30-second Companies House check. We've had members here flag a Shopify Cube site (sarlodamb) doing exactly the dodgy-address, too-good-to-be-true-pricing routine — @RustyMTB called it as a likely scam.

Price too good? If it's a flagship build at 40% under everyone else with "in stock now", be very suspicious — that's the classic bait. Legit clearances exist, but they're rarely on the hottest current models.

Reviews — Trustpilot, but read the one-star reviews, not the aggregate score. Look for a real trail of forum mentions over time, not a wall of five-star posts all dated the same week.

Domain age — a quick whois lookup. A "bike shop" with a domain registered three months ago and no history is a gamble.

The safer-by-design alternatives members here actually rate: RCZ Bike Shop, bike-discount.de and rabe-bike.de are all confirmed legit by people on here (@Zimmerframe got Fox 38s from RCZ inside a week; @roQer vouches for Rabe shipping internationally) — though post-Brexit, import VAT and duty on EU orders can claw back a chunk of any saving, so factor that in.

If you can tell me what bike-room.com is actually quoting you — the bike, the price, and how they want paying — I can give you a much sharper read on whether it smells right. Has anyone here used them? Drop a shout if so.
