About to push the button on the S6 Alloy Comp. Got some good components from my old bike to swap out for most of it but the fork isn't compatible and I doubt the stock 36mm is going to be enough for me (not a light weight rider).

Will swap out to a 38mm probably Zeb Ultimate but don't know whether to stick at the stock 160mm or increase to 170mm. I'm tall/long legged so the extra height at the front may be a good thing but concerned the front may get a little light on the climbs even with the chainstays in the long setting. Have seen the Cascade link that can increase the rear too but not looking at that at the moment.

Anyone increased the fork to 170mm got any feedback to share? Any negatives noticed?

I’m running an Ultimate 170 and haven’t noticed any downsides. i Left the chainstay in short(stock) configuration. I’m 6ft and 13.5st 👍

That's great thanks.

The 160 climbs better if you have steep trails. I just went to a 170/38 and sort wish I went with 160.

Yeah ride a mix of everything so climbing definitely a concern. What size frame and which chainstay length you're running? cheers.

have upgraded my pro with 170 mm front (can be done with an exchange to internals on stock fork) and cascade link 160 mm - love it, rides amazing!

The Levo also has an angle adjust headset so you can always steepen the HT angle if needed. You could also run a little more sag on the 170mm fork also.

just ordered a 170mm fork myself, will try 170mm and swap to 160mm if needed. This bike can run 180mm fork without a cascade link so sure it'll be fine

170 mm is really good. makes the bike to a real enduro machine. But i tell another thing. With Size s6 you will have propotional to the complete bike real short chainstays. it is to consider that the bike may feel unbalanced. I recommend to test it before.

Rear should be fine. In the long setting which I'll use they're the same as my XXL SC Hightower and that rides well. It's also longer than my XL Merida e160 it'll be replacing and that's fun/active with the shorter stays which are 439mm so not worried about that. cheers

Thanks for input. Ordered bike this AM so will find out soon how I get on (have ridden the gen 3 s6 for several days and it was good other than a tiny bit low at the front when stood up (i'm long in the leg) - was a rental so didn't have a high rise bar to try). Will have a couple of rides on the supplied 160mm fork to see how I get on before deciding 160/170mm Zeb. Nearly NBD! (Merida e160 XL and Pole Voima K4 up for sale soon).

I went 180/170 with the stock Fox 38 and Cascade Link in the rear. I've not had any issues (as far as I can tell) with climbing and such. Really digging the bike and how plush it is.

Yes. 170 mm Push 9.1, rear shock in low mode - great setup.

170mm seems totally fine to me. I rode the stock 160mm on a rental when trying the bike, but only ever had my 170mm on mine. Lifting the front just has not been a thing on climbs for me with this bike. Was something I had to pay attention to on my gen3. With the gen4 I generally have to focus more on putting weight on the rear so it gets traction.

Love it magic carpet

Just by way of an update, I've decided to try a 170mm after a few rides in the standard spec. The 160mm is ok but between wanting to raise the front end a little bit and getting a stiffer fork, I have a new Zeb Ultimate going on it next week.

I have the 170 and the cacade link. Pretty much a perfect combo for the bike. I did put a runt on the 38 so I could more precisely dial in the feel of the fork without over damping. Go for it. The majority of the crew I ride with has gone with the 170 or 180 air spring.

i have an s1 gen 4 alloy.. 150mm stock.. i was thinking of putting my fox 38 170mm.. is this a good idea on s1 size?
