Gen 4 lockring removal.

Evening, I have the correct tool to remove the lockring on the gen 4 and I understand I have to undo clockwise, but the whole chain ring spins. It doesn’t lock into place how do I stop it spinning so I can unlock the lockring?

The chainring should not be turning independently of the spindle.
Hold the non-drive side pedal/crank while you loosen the locking.
