hey peeps any off you guys with a 177slx have issues with the rebound?im like only have 70 psi with 2 air tokens in and doing the usual push on the handlebars and adjust till the wheel doesn’t leave the ground with rebound fully closed its still just leaving,I noticed when new but got around it by running 4 tokens and 25% sag but I’ve gained a few pounds since then😂wondering if it’s just the tune?

@Trickz I may need to get out more but I have never heard of that method to adjust rebound. I need to see what my bike does. How hard do you have to push for it to be a comparable test? For example, compress to half the fork travel, or more?

Riding off kerbs until the bike settles after less than one complete bounce is the closest quick adjust method I have heard. But "until the wheel doesn't leave the ground" Hmmm. Do you suffer from packing down occasionally?

I set the rebound to whatever the manufacturer says than adjust to suit me and the trail, which may be several clicks away, up or down. In the absence of guidelines, I set it one third from fast, then test ride.

Quute a few years ago, I parked next to a guy who was on an identical bike (YT CAPRA), he had set his sag at 15%, mine was at 30%. Neither of us at that time could contemplate using the other's settings. But I have asked myself since then how did he set it up? Different set up practices will give different resuts.

I once got into a bit of a row with @Gary who is no longer on this Forum. He disagreed with how I set up my bike and said it was unprofessional and would produce highly variable results (or something equally critical, recollections may vary). In an attempt to settle the argument he provided a video from a professional race mechanic. I watched the video to discover that the guy was doing it the same as me! Gary's response was that the guy was a professional whereas I was an amateur. I had no answer to that!

The following is not aimed at you or anyone in particular, it just occurrs to me that it is relevant.

I read an interview with a suspension designer from Fox. He said that once the suspension is set, the vast majority of people only ever need to adjust one click up or down to suit different trail conditions.
Ther interviewer asked "in which case why supply so many levels of adjustment, when most people only use three?" He said that rider's weight, fitness, strength, ability, jumping height, speed and ride preference provide a huge variety of requirements and suspension has to cope with all of that. Ditto for the bike and the trails they ride on."

So, there is no one setting that suits all. :)
