U.K.
Great review of a great pack! I’ve used mine a lot and would agree with your 5 star rating and your detailed assessment.
It’s comfy fully loaded for long rides (my longest 75km on reds and blacks lots of climbing and descending with a battery). It’s also comfy and stable when it’s not packed full, with or without the battery. It’s stable too, including on the black trails.
I’ve fitted in the Shimano 630 battery and the Specialized 720 battery (I think it’s better to remove the ‘handle/bask guard’ at the bottom of the latter which is an easy task).
I’m 6’ as well and the M/L is a perfect fit.
Concerning safety, having carefully looked at the pack and protector, I’m happy to ride anything not jumping big wearing it. I’ve chosen not to jump big with a battery in it. I have no objective evidence either way for saying that. I’m happy to ride flat out and do smaller doubles and drops and having had some nasty injuries when I was younger, I have no interest in taking unnecessary risks at my age now. But it’s a personal decision.
That leaves my one minor concern. I agree it should come with a bladder. I route the tube from that bottom right exit up the strap where it’s secured by a classic bladder tube clip on the right hand strap. This means that because the tube leaves the bottom of my bladder pointing ‘up’, it has to curve round 180 degrees down inside the bag to get to the decent sized exit hole mentioned in the review at the bottom right (as worn).
I have no doubt this is the best safe and comfortable way of taking all that’s needed for a long day out with a second battery.
