Which motor are you talking about?
I have done it on Bosch and Shimano.
Bosch is more complicated as you need special cables with special plugs, and you need to get the light function activated at your bike shop.

It is a Brose controller and I bought the bike early this year.
My controller has stopped working on the mode rocker switch for motor assistance dead. Is this like your one July was when I received the E bike. With new Brose controller.

The Brose delivers 6v on 2 connectors, for front and back light. Attention, current is very limited, so also Watts Lumens and Lux.
The alternative is to connect a 8-80v to 5v (usb) converter to the thick 36v wires, and power a 5-8v mtb night lamp.
Those converters can deliver up to +-2 amps.

Thank you for the reply. I am not sure what you mean by wiring an 8-80v to 5v converter to the 36v wire?

1) buy a a 8-80v (input) to 5v (2A usb output) converter
2) open the bike to find the thick 36V wires
3) connect the input of the convertor to these wires
4) connect your lamp, phone, camera,.. to the 2A usb output of the converter.
